About Grant

I am currently employed as an Associate Professor of Mathematics at a University in Missouri. I earned my Ph.D. in mathematics in 2003 and have been teaching at the University level since 1996. I am only two classes away from completing Secondary Education certification, even having completed the student teaching portion of the program.

One of my favorite things to do is to run a math tutor lab. Tutoring provides the opportunity to work with a student one-on-one, whether in-person or online, and I am able to see what they are doing, ask questions and really get to the understanding that he or she possesses and then to help move the student forward. I have ran tutoring sessions for third and fourth graders to middle school, high school and college students. I have tutored students in ACT prep and even helped Pre-Med students brush-up on their mathematics for the MCAT exam.

Aside from my professional qualifications, I would say what would makes me a great tutor is my love of mathematics. Enjoying mathematics was not always the case for me. In elementary school I found math to be boring and tedious to the point that I refused to do it. Because of this, I can relate to students who find math challenging and it is my hope to help them discover an appreciation, if not a love, for mathematics.

I am generally available for online tutoring in the evenings Monday to Friday and on Saturdays during the day. I look forward to helping you develop an appreciation for mathematics and to achieve success you desire.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
