West Texas A&M University (History)
I have been tutoring since I was high school. I have helped with various subjects and graduated high school at the age of 16. Afterwards, I attended the Texas Academy of Math and Science. I have also been a substitute teacher from pre-K through 12th grade.
My tutoring experience ranges from helping with History, by making it interesting and teaching some mnemonic devices. I also have helped with SAT and ACT prep and also with college admission essays. I have helped with proofreading and essay composition through graduate school level. I have also tutored in reading comprehension.
I did my senior year independent study on music history and how it corresponded with the civil rights in America. Previously, I took a course each year throughout college of music and history, allowing me to have a comprehensive education.
I have helped a wide range of ages from 4 to 40. I know how to work with different learning styles and I am willing to try various teaching and tutoring methods to make sure that every student gets the maximum amount of education and retention from me. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
