About Lakeshia

I am currently a Mathematics professor. I have both a Master's and PhD from Howard University, as well as a Master's in Mathematical Finance from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte. I have also passed the Series 7. I have experience teaching and tutoring students on the K-12 and college levels, including traditional college students and adult learners. The subjects range from developmental math to the more advanced and graduate courses. I enjoy mathematics and have a great appreciation for its demand for accuracy and making logical sense.

Most students find difficulty understanding seemingly complicated and convoluted lectures and exercises when details and intermediate steps are not shown. I am here to provide the details and guide you through a step by step process. I aim to help you make sense of it all! I am understanding, personable and don't mind answering ALL of your questions.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

As a mathematics professor, I am fully knowledgeable about Algebra 1 content.

Discrete Math

I have multiple advanced degrees in Mathematics. I have tutored and taught in Logic, Finite, and Discrete Math for 10+ years. My experience includes high school, traditional college level students and adult learners. Furthermore, I have experience in course development in each of these areas. I am currently teaching courses in Logic and Discrete Math.

Econometrics

I have a Master's Degree in Mathematical Finance and the degree requirements included significant coursework, research and application of econometrics. Furthermore, I have a PhD in Mathematics and have a solid foundation in the basic math and statistics needed to be successful. Lastly, I have experience tutoring in this subject on the college level.

Finite Math

I have multiple advanced degrees in Mathematics. I have tutored and taught Finite Math for a number of years at different universities for 10+ years. My experience includes courses taught face to face and online. Moreover, I have tutored in this area for both traditional college level students and adult learners.

Logic

I have advanced degrees in mathematics & I have taught and tutored for numerous years in Logic. I am currently teaching an undergraduate course in Logic. Main areas of focus have been on applications for students in computer science and different techniques of proof for mathematics students. Students tend to appreciate my ability to relate the topics of this course to the real world.

Series 7

I have a Master's Degree in Mathematical Finance and have an abundance of coursework in the securities industry, investment strategies and ethics under my belt. Furthermore, I have a PhD in Mathematics and have a solid foundation in the content that is necessary to be successful on the Series 7. Lastly, I have taken and passed the Series 7 and I am currently licensed. I have the preparation and confidence to tutor is this subject.
