About Salvatore

I'm Salvatore! I am a recent summa cum laude graduate from The University of Alabama with a Bachelor's degree in Finance and minor in Economics. Currently I am enrolled in a Master's program at The University of Alabama and am studying Applied Statistics. My Uncle is a math teacher and math tutor, and has inspired me to help others find joy in learning relevant subject matter in preparation for college and the workplace. Through his guidance, he has passed along excellent material pertaining to how I tutor. In my tutoring approach, I will seek out material that directly correlates to what you are looking to build your skills in, and have detailed lesson plans to best suit your needs. I will work through the problem sets with you, and then reintroduce similar problems that we will revisit by the end of the session to confirm your new understanding.

My strongest field of study is math, and I have had experience helping to teach my younger brother in various subjects in algebra I, geometry, and algebra II throughout his high school experience. Additionally, I spent a year as a math tutor to 5 freshmen who were struggling in high school algebra as part of a voluntary assist program in my school. Working with these students each day for 1 hour, the students were finally able to meet school board education standards. At the end of the school year, each of my students passed the class!

I am also qualified to teach these subjects due to my personal academic achievements in each area, and they all have provided a strong foundation for my college experience. I have made A's on each course that I have enrolled in from middle school through university level math, including geometry, algebra I & II, statistics, precalculus, business statistics and calculus I & II. I am involved in a graduate school program that focuses explicitly on statistics and working with data, so I am still fully immersed in the subject and all of my projects and research are math dependent. My strong background in the fundamental subjects has allowed me to be accepted into such a rigorous program. Furthermore, previous finance jobs and internships that I have had require a working level understanding of these types of math, and I have successfully built out different reporting tools that require formulas and calculations.

I want to see my future students get a better understanding of the material, teach them how to ace the test, and become inspired to learn in the future. I am a very patient person, and have found that the best teachers are the ones who not only listen to their students' needs and concerns, but can also provide valuable advice and critical thinking tips for how to be successful. I have a very flexible schedule, and am willing to work with you for multiple hours at a time if necessary.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Baseball

I have coached 3 teams of baseball ranging from the middle school level, 16U travel level, to varsity high school baseball. I played for 10 years as a shortstop and have been recognized as a top baseball athlete with honors including Varsity All-State First Team All State, Michigan High School Baseball Dream Team 2014. My father has coached at the collegiate level and has passed along some excellent instruction to me. I have designed workouts for fielding, building arm strength, batting, and showcase drills.
