I would be pleased to work with you as a tutor. I believe that my education, experience and employment background will make me an excellent tutor.
I am available to tutor in ESL, elementary English, Reading, and Writing. I am available to tutor afternoons, evenings and weekends.
For two years I lived in Africa, specifically Burundi, Nigeria and Malawi. While there I taught ESL at a university, a Bible school and a primary school. I taught reading, writing and pronunciation at a University in Burundi. In addition, I was one of two faculty advisers to the on-campus English Club.
I also spent a year in Nigeria working at a primary school. I worked with students from ages 9-13 as they learned English, classroom skills and standard school procedures. Nothing was more exciting than to watch them spell their name, master the alphabet or complete simple mathematical equations. I loved helping students navigate through school, providing them a skill that can dramatically impact their lives. I would love to become a tutor; coming alongside students, encouraging them and helping them achieve their goals.
I also have experience working with students in the States. For two summers I was an on-site director at a camp for 84 students and 14 college age staff. During this time I created programs, schedules, curriculum, and activities for the summer months.
My prior employment and experience has been excellent training for being a tutor. I have experience working with people for many different cultures and backgrounds. I have experience in in one on one settings, teaching overseas and working in other cultures. I would be pleased to work with you as a tutor. I believe that my education, experience and employment background will make me an excellent tutor.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
