About Kira

I have been working with students for the last 15 years. My husband and I have just relocated to Alabama from St. Louis, MO and I look forward to working with new students. I have a wide variety of experiences and have worked with many types of students.

I have experience working with a variety of ages. I can cover most anything from K-12 and some college level courses. I know that math is often a tough subject and it requires patience from both the tutor and the student. I try a variety of teach methods so we can discover which one best fits the student's needs.

I have taught Bible Study and tutored Middle School and High School aged students in various subjects. I have also worked with college and adult learners.

Some just need refreshers on their basic skills. Others are returning to or completing their education. I am glad to proofread papers or just be a study partner for texts and exams.

I am a Creative Writing major and taught Bible Studies for many years. I work with anything from basic reading and writing skills up to proofreading and editing university-level papers and essays. I look forward to working with you to meet your education goals.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

I taught Bible studies at Main Street United Methodist Church in Alton, IL for 10 years to both Middle School and High School students. I taught college and adult studies intermittently during that time as well. I was also an adult sponsor for a traveling ecumenical high school choir based from the same church.

Cosmetology

I have done make up application for many years. I specialize in special occasion applications but have worked with local theater groups on costume make up as well. I am also available to teach simple application techniques for everyday looks or special occasion looks.

Microsoft Outlook

I have used Outlook extensively in the course of my employment at a law firm. I have used it to send and receive emails as well as scheduling meetings. I can format and change preferences.

Piano

Public Speaking

I have taken public speaking courses. I also functioned as an associate youth pastor for several years. Through that internship and since, I have preached several sermons. Though my employment at a law firm, I have led several training courses.

Religion

I have taught Bible Study to many ages from Middle School to Seniors. I have also taken several classes on world religion and have a basic understanding of the main religions of both the east and west. Additionally I have an extensive library of books on various Christian subjects as well as several comparative texts.

Voice (Music)

I have both taken and taught voice lessons. I have been a part of several choirs as a soprano. I am able to accompany students on the piano and demonstrate proper form.
