Wallace State Community College (Computer Science)
Since my early teenage years, I have been interested in computers and how they work. I started out with an old Dell desktop and would spend many hours researching on the Internet about the functions and many things they could do. This was back in the dial-up days so that did play a factor in the time spent researching.
First, I started using many different types of software and began graphic designing. I spent countless days creating more and more until my creative juices flat out told me enough was enough. It was then that I wanted to get more technical so I started taking the computer apart and putting it back together. I did this quite a few times before it became boring.
Since then, I have taken apart and built over 50 computers. I started my own business in 2009 providing building, repair, marketing, and design services. As of 2015, I now have my own employees and am doing well. My hobby became my job and I am thankful for that. I would love to be able to help others explore their passion for computers and assist those who are wanting to learn more with their journey.
I can teach Computer Science, General Computing, Graphic Design, Adobe Photoshop, HTML, CSS, Business Management, English, Grammar and Writing.
I have a CompTIA+ certification and 10+ years of experience with computers, including owning my own computer business.
I have many years of experience in subjects I teach. I work with my students to make sure they get everything they need from my tutoring and then some. I cannot be successful unless my students are successful! Since my early teenage years, I have been interested in computers and how they work. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As a computer business owner, I also provide design services to my customers. I have created over 10 websites in the past year, all of which I design the graphics and code them in HTML/CSS myself. I have been using Adobe Photoshop since 2004 and created lessons for others as content available online.
I currently own a computer business and I focus mainly on Windows systems because it has been my primarily used operating system since first building a personal computer over 10 years ago. In the past, I have hosted local classes to help others learn the basics of Windows such as how to perform certain functions, prevent malware by teaching how to install software, and service the PC if/when malware slips through the virus protection.
I currently hold a CompTIA+ certification and have other smaller certifications for specific Windows programs and features.
