My family and I are from Colombia. We moved to the United States when my siblings and I were young and have been raised in Alabama. I graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in communications, more specifically, journalism from Harding University.

I tutor K-6 grade students in English, math, ACT prep, STAAR prep, writing and Spanish. I have tutored all of these subjects for four years now.

I have always enjoyed math! In high school and college, I found myself ahead of my class and being requested for help from my peers in my math classes. For the last four years, the subject I have found myself tutoring the most was K-6 math. With the help of my students and lots of trial and error, I realized this age range of students needs help looking at math differently! They need fun, interactive and simple. With these things in mind as I teach, I have experienced a wide variety of students learning more, confusing less, and more importantly, enjoying math!

My family and I are native Spanish speakers. I have become fluent in English and Spanish as I grew up learning both languages simultaneously. Teaching the language however, can be a bit different from just knowing how to speak it correctly. This is why I have spent a few years familiarizing myself with the language and its grammatical rules so that I can better teach them to my students.

I graduated with the highest honors from my university in journalism. While journalism is not an English class, it did open up my love even more for the English language. I have always loved writing. I chose my major in journalism to be able to write as my profession. With the love of writing, however, comes the need of competence in the English language. Through my undergraduate courses and my work life experience, I have become fluent in the English language -- in both the correct spoken form and the correct, grammatical written form.
