Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I have my Educationalist Specialist Degree from Jacksonville State University in Special Education. I have 11 years experience teaching grades 5th through 12th grades. I have taught students diagnosed with ADD/ ADHD in a regular education setting, resource room, and self contained unit. A students IEP determines what, when and where subjects have to be addressed. Also some cases are more severe than others. Each case is different. I reviewed students files, talked with past teachers, and had parent/ guardian conferences.
Based on the students needs he/she might need medication throughout the day. It was my responsibility to see the student to the school nurse.

Special Needs

I have my Ed.S in Collaborative grades 6-12. I have 11 years experience teaching grades 5th-12th grades. I have experience with students who are ADD, autistic, ohi, Id,ebd and Tbi.
I have taught a self contained unit with autism students. Those students varied in personality and learning style. With all my students I reviewed my case files, met with parents/ guardians, and reviewed medical history to present meds. Every student is special in there own unique way. As educators we must get to know our students and understand them.

I have also been a resource teacher to do small group instruction, a collaborative teacher to go where needed based on students and IEPs, and a home bound instructor.
