About Colin

I have six years of experience tutoring high school (AP) and college students in physics and calculus. I recently graduated Cum Laude with a BS in Physics from Auburn University. I have tutored students in a number of other subjects including: algebra, precalculus, trigonometry, calculus 1-3, physics 1-2, statistics, and chemistry.

Currently, I'm working on an electrical engineering degree at South Alabama and am tutoring ACT prep and math/science subjects. I like to help students with difficult course content, homework, and test preparation. Though I mostly work with students on their current course material, I am also able to plan lessons which are more geared toward the general understanding of a chosen subject.

I have extensive experience tutoring chemistry I and II, AP chemistry, calculus I, II, and III, AP calculus, business calculus, and precalculus.

I have a BS in Physics from Auburn. I have extensive experience tutoring physics I and II, both trig-based and cal-based.

Feel free to contact me with any questions about possible tutoring subjects and/or times!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Physics

I graduated in 2014 from Auburn University with a B.S. in physics. I have 6 years experience as a private tutor in a number of different level physics classes. I have helped students who were taking AP, trig-based, calculus-based (sometimes called engineering), and honors physics I + II, as well as regular high school physics. My goal as a tutor is to break each topic down to it's simplest components by teaching theory first, then application, while also putting the concepts in historical and scientific perspective.

Precalculus

I have experience tutoring high school and college level precalculus. Over the past 6 years, I have assisted over between 10 to 20 students in precalculus. I am extremely familiar with all material covered in precal classes. I am more than capable of helping any student better understand these topics, whether they need help grasping the theory, applying the concepts, or both.

Trigonometry

I have experience tutoring both high school and college level trigonometry. I am very familiar with all concepts covered in trigonometry classes, and I am competent teaching both the theory and the application of these concepts. I have a B.S. degree in physics, which gives me a perspective on trigonometry that most do not have. Trigonometric concepts play a big role in the laws of nature. I believe this gives me a different view of the importance of trig, and how/where they are used or appear in the real world.

Wow! I really learned a lot in the first 2-hr session.

I enjoyed learning the small details of Calculus 1. During my first tutoring session, I gained the knowledge and confidence to help further my engineering endeavors. Thanks Colin!!!
