About Vanessa

I have enjoyed teaching and learning my whole life; at least as far as I can recall. My parents instilled a love of learning from an early age. My favorite subject in school was math, which is why I became a math teacher. I taught high school math for three years. I have an M.S. degree in education, and I am currently working on completing a doctoral degree in higher education and organizational leadership. Tutoring is my passion, because it allows me to work with students on an individual level as well as in group settings. As your tutor, I will give you my best, and in return, I require your best. In addition, I hope to instill a lifelong love of learning.

I specialize in math and English: algebra I, algebra II, geometry, SAT, GED, English and writing. I will keep you and your parents informed of your progress and will include additional assignments to improve problem areas.

My desire is to provide the highest quality service possible. If you are not completely satisfied with my service, I will not require payment.

Please provide a 24 hour cancellation in order to give adequate time to each student. Students will be given the opportunity to makeup missed sessions.

I will be teaching private and group lessons in Millbrook. I will also travel to a desired location for your convenience.

I look forward to working with you. Watching you excel is my reward!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am qualified to tutor K-6th because I have graduated from high school, college, and received a Masters in education. I am currently working on my doctorate degree in organizational leadership and higher education. I enjoy tutoring children from elementary through college.

Tutoring requires teaching students to apply knowledge and concepts, and that is one of my areas of expertise. Each student is different and may learn differently. Some students are visual learners and must see pictures and shapes. Other students may learn simply by explanation. As a tutor, I will work with each student to determine what best fits their needs.

In addition, I have several years of experience tutoring in all subjects, grades K-12.
