Ohio State University (Master's)
Teachers College (Master's)
I graduated from UCLA with a degree in mathematics and also have a master's from Ohio State. I am certified to teach (Teachers College). I have experience teaching courses from pre-algebra to calculus at the college level. It was in the autumn of 2012 in New York City that I got my first job, and I've now moved back to the Madison/Huntsville area to be with family. I recently taught at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. I've also tutored- the SAT and the GRE quantitative section, among other topics.
I love both teaching and tutoring. Math isn't always an easy subject for students, but my experience has given me a good grasp of where students have difficulties. It's true that learning the subject requires mastering an array of different skills, but the advantage to that is that one can also approach a topic from many different angles- graphically, verbally, and so forth. I try to use as many approaches as are needed with students.
I was once asked what a teacher needs to succeed, and I responded a philosophy of education, a passion for the subject they teach, and optimism. My philosophy is that we achieve great things only when we pour our heart and our mind into what we do, my passion comes from years of having studied my subject, and my optimism comes from having watched so many great teachers succeed.

Very productive during time onsite. Prompt and flexible with scheduling. We have made several 'last minute' requests for onsite sessions. He manages to meet our requests with minimal notice at times. Knowledgeable and very patient tutor.
Keith helped us through a difficult situation where online schooling fell short. He did a great job explaining concepts in different ways so that my daughter could understand.
Explains thing in depth, explains why we are doing the steps to the math problem instead of just teaching the steps which really helps in remembering the problems. Helped me feel more confident about my final will just two hour long lessons - really took a lot of stress off me. Would use this tutor again, absolutely.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
