East TN State University (English)
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (Master's)
My subject qualifications include both English subjects (grammar, proofreading, and/or vocabulary) and Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
My love of helping people is what led me to become a teacher back in the 1990's. After graduating magna cum laude and receiving a master's degree in English, I taught junior high school and high school English and French for about five years before I changed careers. For English subjects, I am happy to help tutor students to help them pass a class or specific test. I am also available to proofread college papers, books awaiting publication, or other documentation.
I now hold a full-time position as a technical writer for the U.S. Army. In my job as a writer, I am constantly using Microsoft Office -- particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint -- and have been using these software programs for over 15 years. Some of the products that I produce range from simple documents to complex template designs and spreadsheets. I'm also good at troubleshooting issues, particularly with Microsoft Word, and am known as the "go-to" girl at work for people who need assistance.
For Microsoft Office subjects, I can show you how to do what you want to do, whether it's creating a template, spreadsheet, chart, or presentation, just to name a few.
Because I work a full-time job, I do require a minimum of 6 hours' notification if you need to cancel or reschedule.
My ultimate goal is to help those who need it in the subjects in which I am qualified. If you are unhappy with my services, I will strive to make things right with you. I am open to some negotiation on hourly rates, depending on the job -- so please don't hesitate to contact me and make me an offer.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you! My subject qualifications include both English subjects (grammar, proofreading, and/or vocabulary) and Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Linda was great. she was always on time, came completely prepared and presented the material in a way that was very useful. i believe she missed her calling as a teacher. Wonderful person and very attentive to the lesson.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Master's degree in English, and I taught as a secondary school teacher for 5 years. I taught mostly grammar and vocabulary, although I also taught literature.
I have been using Microsoft Office programs for over 15 years. I continue to use Excel daily in my current job. I am very proficient in using formulas (SUM, SUMIF, COUNTIF, DSUM, LOOKUP, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, MATCH, CONCATENATE, etc.). I am also very good at conditional formats, charts and graphs, and using data validation.
I have been using Microsoft Word for over 15 years. As a technical writer, it is imperative for me to know the more complex features of the program. I am proficient in creating and using styles, creating tables of content, creating section breaks for pagination and page orientation, using columns, creating templates (.dotx), and using MailMerge, as well as many other features that are too numerous to list.
