About Ezekiel

I have been tutoring since the year 2000 when I started tutoring math and economics for a program at the University of Tennessee for disadvantaged and minority students. In 2005 I entered graduate schools and taught economics, statistics, finance and business administration at both the community college and University level. I am very patient with students and focus on things I think professors and teachers tend to stress and test on. I love my students and work hard to assure their success. I have tutored algebra, calculus, economics, geometry and SAS programming. I look forward to working with you.

I have extensive econometrics training in both an academic and private industry environment. I am familiar with methods such as OLS, probit, logit, hazard models, maximum likelihood estimation, panel data models, GLM, ARIMA models and the Box Jenkins method used to create both seasonal and non-seasonal forecast models, fixed effects, random effects and population averaged models. I have worked with the models in academia on my thesis and in private industry for business based applications such as pricing, advertising and econometric forecasting.

I have used Excel since 1998 and as a PhD have used is in such applications like tracking students grades and in private industry to conduct statistical tests of new products brought online by one of the nation's largest retailers.

I have taught business, economics, finance and statistics at the college level and have worked in both private industry and academia. I taught college for seven years before going to work for a large corporation as a senior analyst in Chicago. I have tutored business and math since the year 2000.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Biostatistics

My PhD thesis work was in applied microeconomics looking at cocaine use by patients in a methadone treatment program. I have used bootstrapping and resampling methods in real world applications when it was not practical to run models otherwise. I am familiar with duration modeling and hazard function analysis.

Business

I have 3 B.A. degrees in business a major in general business, a major in Public Administration a minor in economics a major in economics and a major in political science, a master's in economics and a PhD in economics.

Differential Equations

I have a PhD in economics. We commonly use differential equations particularly for utility optimization problems. I am familiar with both Lagrange and Hamiltonian optimization techniques, first order and second order conditions and Khun Tucker conditions. In graduate school we learned how to solve for the Khun Tucker conditions and whether a steady state solution was a maximum, minimum, saddle path or corner solution, we also learned about concepts such as ordinary slackness and whether there was any slack in the system aka whether the Khun Tucker conditions were binding.

Discrete Math

I have tutored discrete math at the college level since the year 2000. I have had advanced courses in discrete math topics like game theory at the PhD level while earning my PhD at the University of Alabama. I am familiar with both discrete and continuous math concepts.

Econometrics

I have a PhD in economics with advance course work in econometrics, using econometrics in both academia and in the private market. For my thesis I estimate rational, conventional and myopic demand models for drug use by patients and an MMT clinic and then look at substance abuse using random effects and fixed effects models. In private industry I used primarily fixed effects models to estimate demand elasticities to calculate optimal prices for three divisions of home appliances at Sears Holdings Corporation answering to the CEO weekly making pricing recommendations.

Economics

I have taught Macroeconomics and Microeconomics for both the University of Alabama and Shelton State community college. I began my teaching career in 2005 and have taught over 6,000 students in both large and small classes. My thesis work is an empirical study in applied microeconomics and examines the effectiveness of Methadone Maintenance Therapy on treating cocaine abuse by addicts over a ten year period.

Finite Math

I have a PhD in economics. I started tutoring Finite Math as an undergraduate at the University of Tennessee for disabled and minority students. Having taking mathematical economics and earned an A we commonly used matrix algebra, calculating determinants of matrices to determine whether they were maximums or minimums in multidimensional space. I have also had advanced statistics work with probability theory and lots of calculus.

Linear Algebra

I have tutored linear algebra starting in the year 2000 working as a tutor for a program at the university of Tennessee for disabled and minority students. I have extensively used linear algebra in my graduate studies solving out equations in courses like microeconomics, macroeconomics, mathematical economics, statistics, and game theory.

Logic

As an undergraduate I took both introduction and intermediate formal logic from a professor that did his graduate work in logic. I am familiar with such concepts as truth tables, truth trees, validity and soundness. I earned an A in introduction to formal logic and a B in intermediate formal logic.

Political Science

I have a B.A. in Public Administration with a 2nd major in Policital Science. I earned in 2003 from the University of Tennessee. I was Magna Cum Laude. I have tutored since the year 2000 and currently hold a PhD in economics and have taught over 6,000 students since starting graduate school in 2005. I graduate in 2013 earning both a Masters and a PhD. I have taught courses for the University of Alabama and Shelton State community college.

SAS

I hold a SAS certificate from the University of Alabama which was part of my masters work. It consisted of 4 courses to prepare students to enter private industry as SAS programmers. The course consisted of Data Mining methods all done in SAS and including using such programs such as SAS enterprise miner using neural networks to fit models that traditional regression models could not be used for. Our class project was using SAS enterprise miner to fit models for the YMCA to maintain client membership.

STATA

I used Stata in both my dissertation thesis and also in private industry at Sears Holdings Corporation. I have written 100,000's of lines of stata code and know how to use things such as local and global macros, run do files and change internal default options in STATA. I hold my own copy in a perpetual license.
