I am currently a Ph.D Mechanical Engineering student at UAH. Prior to that I worked at Boeing for 5 years in both Huntsville and St. Louis. I have always helped and worked with other students on homework and studying during my career and have seen the importance of understanding math and science in an industry job. It is always a pleasure to see when someone finally understands the problem that they have the confidence to solve a similar problem without assistance.
I believe I am an exceptional math tutor because the wonderful thing about math is there is almost always more than one way to solve a problem and I have an in-depth understanding to be able and explain the problem in different ways. If one approach or description doesn't work for a student I can use another explanation that might be easier for the student to understand. I can also create practice problems that make the student think about the topic and not just follow a formula.
I have excelled at all levels of mechanical engineering classes including during my graduate studies. Also, by working I know the importance of certain topics and the knowledge that is needed to participate in an intellectual discussion with customers when solving or troubleshooting a problem.
Please contact me to set up a time where I can teach you more about math and engineering. I promise through hard work you can understand the subject. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
During my graduate studies I have been required to become proficient in linear and matrix algebra. The study of stress and strain in a general solid body consists of second and fourth rank tensors. I have been exposed to and working with tensor algebra and tensor calculus for the past several years during my Mechanical Engineering PhD degree.
I have completed both an undergraduate degree and graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. During my graduate studies I have taken over 40 credits of classes receiving A's in all of them. A majority of my graduate classes have focused on mechanics such as continuum mechanics, elasticity, plasticity, solid mechanics and fracture mechanics. By completing these classes with high grades I believe I am qualified to help teach undergraduate ME subjects especially those dealing with stress and strain because I have been working with those subjects for multiple years now.
