About Robert

I had a high GPA in high school and college. I have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and I have a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from NCSU.

I was a chemistry lab assistant in high school, and was able to skip one chemistry course in college by passing the final exam before taking the course.

I had a career in electronic engineering, with heavy use of computers; primarily simulation (using computer programs to predict the behavior of electronic parts still under design). Computer programming languages I have used include FORTRAN, BASIC, Logic 5, LASAR 6, Verilog, C, C++, and CUDA. Some Assembler and some OpenCL also. Was systems programmer for 2 minicomputers and 2 supermini computers. I am available most of each day, although with limited travel; schedule shows hours and days available, but I usually cannot travel on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, or Sundays.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Computer Programming

I learned several computer programming languages for my work - Fortran, Basic, Logic 5, LASAR 6, Verilog, some assembler. Learned C, C++, and CUDA more recently, plus some OpenCL. Kept 2 minicomputers and 2 supermini computer running for a few years.
Taught a course in LASAR 6 during my work. Have repaired a few computers (Windows type) for neighbors.

Electrical Engineering

BSEE and MSEE degrees in electrical/electronic engineering from NCSU. About a year as a teaching assistant in NCSU's electrical/electronic engineering department, and about a year as research assistant. A few decades of experience in electronic engineering, primarily in logic simulation (using computer programs to predict the behavior of integrated circuits that haven't been built yet, and FPGA programs that haven't been loaded into the FPGAs yet.

Fortran

I took a course in Fortran at North Carolina State University, then used it for many years first at ITT Telecom, then at Alcatel Network Systems. No version past FORTRAN 77, though.

Helpful

Although he was not familiar with my subject he gave me suggestions how to get good tutor in that subject. He said he knows other subjects very good.
