National University (BBA)
I have spent decades accumulating a lot of experience in my favorite disciplines. My biggest dream is to teach others what I have learned. First off, I have a four year degree in Accounting from an university in Southern California. For those who have accounting ambitions, I can help with what I have learned over the years.
I have a wealth of knowledge ranging from basic to intermediate Arithmetic through Algebra in the math department. In the Science Field (my truest passion), I have decades of learning in Earth Sciences (Weather, Geology, Geography, Oceanography, etc). With my interest in weather, I can help anyone wishing to study for that portion of their flight exam (most flight instructors do not like the subject). I also have a fair amount of Astronomy knowledge, since it is somewhat tied to what is going on with our planet.
I can break down math problems to their most basic forms so that even a simple person such as myself can understand it. After all, if I cannot grasp the gist of the problem to begin with, I will have a difficult time getting it across to the student(s). Simplicity is the best policy here. It helps both instructor (tutor) and student, and is easier to answer any questions.
I break down the technical jargon of science terms before hand to bring out the science behind what I am explaining, then I introduce the techo-geek speak after I've simplified the process. I believe by capturing the interest first, it will help en-train the necessary knowledge in the subject that the most basic person out there can carry on a conversation using scientific terms with a true scientist well enough to keep their heads above water.
I do inject humor in my lessons, as I believe learning should be educational, but fun.
If you are looking for that edge to pass that exam, give that talk, or write the term paper, I am your go to person. I believe in using the internet to find any answers that I may be stumped on. If a query is asked that I am stumped on, it will become a learning lesson for ALL concerned.
I will even give hints on how to write a successful term paper, or speech (use the information I shared with you, I won't write it for you, though). In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a BBA degree and have tutored many folks with their Algebra subject throughout the years. The most recent was successful tutoring of several co-workers who were earning collegiate degrees. This was during the last 5 years.
I have an AA degree in Earth Science, which required a solid understanding of Algebra.
