Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT English

Although I am a science teacher, English has always been a second love of mine. Reading and writing are both very important to me. I CLEPPED English in college after spending time in the military, and I was always complimented on both my excellent oral and written communication skills while I was a teacher.

ACT Reading

I am approved to tutor by Wyzant in ACT English and Reading. Additionally, I have taken "Teaching Reading in the Content Area" in graduate school, and have had numerous workshops and training sessions in helping students with their reading comprehension. English and Biology were my favorite subjects in high school!

ACT Science

I hold a M.A.Ed. in Biology, along with a minor in Chemistry.

I took Human Anatomy & Physiology while in college and I have taught it at the high school level. I also have experience working in the operating room as a surgical technologist. This is in addition to the M.A. in Biology which I hold.

I am a military veteran, and additionally I have passed the ASVAB.

I have had 12 years of teaching experience, also have experience as a tutor, and possess a M.A. Ed. (Biology) as well as a minor in Chemistry.

I have taken a graduate level Ecology class, and taught high school Environmental Science for years. I have also had all of the prerequisite courses that constitute Ecology being a multi-disciplinary course (Biology, Chemistry).

Although I am technically a science major, Biology and English were always my favorite subjects in school. I have been approved by Wyzant to tutor English. In addition to my core science classes taken in undergraduate and graduate school, I had to take "Teaching Reading in the Content Areas." I have always had a love and appreciation for English and Language Arts and feel quite confident that I can help.

I CLEPPED some of my college-level English classes. I have always done well in any English class that I have taken. My entire teaching career I was always commended on my excellent oral and written communication skills.

Physical Science

I have taught high school physical science.

I was able to CLEP some of my English classes in college. I have always made good grades in English/Literature, and I also was always highly commended on both my written and oral communication skills as a teacher.

I hold a M.A. Ed. and was reading on college level myself at age 9. I have had success in my classroom assisting students who were dyslexic, as well. I am a very strong advocate of reading.

I CLEPPED part of my English classes in college. I have always been told that my verbal and written communication is excellent, plus I love editing. I scored 100% on the WyzAnt test for Writing. (Minimum score in order to tutor is 70%.)

I grew up under the guidance of my father, who is a Zoology major. I learned about all kinds of animals from an early age, accompanying my father to the family farm, and then later to his graduate classes and even labs when I was a young girl. This instilled a love of animals and classification in me. While in High School, I received a First Place Medal at the Regional Science Olympiad in Classification (of organisms). Although I majored in Biology, I have taught high school zoology and it is one of my favorite areas of study.
