I have always wanted to be a teacher. I have worked with students of all ages. I believe that every child can learn, but children learn in their way at their own pace. Many students tend to be intimidated by math and I try to encourage confidence and a positive attitude towards math.
I enjoy working with students on their mathematical journey. I specialize in elementary math, algebra, and geometry. I work to identify each student's mathematical strengths and weaknesses. I plan lessons that work to strengthen the weaknesses.
I understand life happens and things come up at the last minute, so cancelled sessions can be made up. I feel students work best in quiet locations with minimal distractions so I try to meet students in libraries or bookstores.
I have spent 14 years teaching developmental math at the college level and 4 years at the high school level. I tutored elementary school students in math for 3-4 years while my son was in elementary school. I hold a highly qualified status and a current Alabama teaching license.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught remedial math classes at a community college for 14 years. This also includes teaching students ways to learn how to learn math, such as note taking skills, organization, the mathematical processes, notebooks, test taking skills, and working on self confidence.
