I love biology and all things environmental! I studied engineering until I decided to pursue my passion of marine biology. I performed my master's work at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab where I worked with jellyfish in the Gulf of Mexico. While in graduate school, I also worked as a teaching assistant for 3 years where I loved taking students into the field (out on the research vessel or inland) to explore our wonderful world. It seemed that the real, practical hands-on experiences made the biggest impacts and fueled students' passions for science and learning. Following graduate school, I answered the call of the environmental world where I have worked for the last 10 years on environmental cleanup and restoration efforts for private companies and governmental agencies (including 1.5 years with the EPA on the Hurricane Katrina cleanup in Louisiana). I intend to return to my roots and combine my love of science and learning to begin teaching wherever the need is greatest. I have a diverse scientific background and can tailor the tutoring sessions to your child's specific needs. Learning doesn't have to be boring and rote...interactive and hands-on lessons will be not only be fun but will plant the informational seeds that will stay with your child long after the report cards have been issued.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
