As a full-time student at Murray State University, during my free time I chose to help others in gaining success as much as I can. I previously worked with children of all ages while working for YMCA of Jackson, TN. Also I participate in all community activities that the Murray State Racers provided.
As a Murray State Football player I am held to high standards to keep my grades in good standing. My last semester I had a 3.57, helping my GPA to rise closer to the 3.0 that I wanted to have when I graduated. I gave my hardest in the classroom to achieve the highest honors I can. Even though I work hard on the field and in the classroom, I am still a child at heart and like to have my fun. While studying I try to make it as fun as possible because a person will work harder and LEARN more when in a relaxed environment. Since finishing my undergraduate in Mathematics, I have a wide variety of knowledge within the subject. I believe with the knowledge I have I can help anyone. In conclusion I thank God for giving me the knowledge that I have and the heart that wants to keep giving because with those attributes I love passing knowledge on to others.
I was living in the Dallas area working for the Dallas Cowboys as an IT intern and as a tutor to local students. After a short return to playing professional football one more time, I now reside in the Huntsville/Madison area working for SAIC but I still would like to continue tutoring because someday I plan to become an educator and I believe this will be a great addition to my résumé. My time is well managed between the two jobs so there are no worries about last minute cancellations from me. I keep up with all my students scheduled tutoring sessions and always know when and who I have scheduled.
Thank you for your time and I hope that I can help you in the near the near future. Rod is not only prompt and extremely courteous, but he is a very patient and sympathetic teacher. He responds to any inquiry from parents or students in a VERY timely manner. He takes the time to see what the students are learning and how the teacher has been presenting material & then goes back over everything to ensure that the concepts are understood. He even will show easy ways to remember things or shortcuts to solutions. He takes the time necessary to ensure that the student understands the material. The best part, is that he makes himself available via text messages (with pictures) to answer questions that might come up between tutoring sessions. He has helped my daughter through some rough spots and now she has nearly a B in her PAP Algebra II class. Another great point is that he is a recent graduate so he knows exactly how kids feel with anxiety & pressure and will do all that he can to take the pressure off and get them to where they want to be. Thanks Rod - glad you are just a text away...
Roderick is patient; kind and wise on how to help our son. My son has commented after every lesson how helpful his teaching has been!! He's not only great with Ben but wonderful to work with personally. Very polite and professional! So thankful for him!!
Roderick was very patient with my daughter (SAT test). During the interview he gave my daughter a test which quickly identified her weaknesses in Math.
Roderick was very helpful in tutoring my son in Algebra I. He helped him to prepare for the STARR exam and stay on top of his geometry. He was always on-time (or early) and had a very calm and easy to understand method of teaching. He related well to my son and that really helped. My son was able to learn and understand Roderick more than his own teacher. We would definitely use him again for additional help.
Roderick was very patient with me and took time to understand my weaknesses and produced an efficient way to help me prepare for my upcoming SAT! I couldn't have asked for a more knowledgeable and patient tutor than Roderick!
Enjoy him as a tutor. He helped me understand some of the hard subjects in calc two. Definitely recommend him again.
Rod has been working with my son for a month in Algebra 2. First, he has been extremely responsive and available to both myself and my son. He has been strict, fair and flexible in his teaching methods providing the spark and connection needed between the classroom and homework! From my limited Algebra knowledge, he has been able to communicate key concepts so that my son has had several "aha" moments.
I highly recommend Rod to any student needing help through his scope of tutoring!
Roderick is awesome in responding to communication very quickly which has made tutoring less stressful for me as a parent. My child is "learning" - which IS the purpose of the tutoring. Have much to go and thoroughly appreciate Rod and his tutelage.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
