In 2007, I received my M.A. degree in Russian Language and Literature from the University of Michigan. While pursuing my degree, I had the opportunity to teach college-level courses in First Year Russian and Second Year Russian. I had full responsibility for 5 classroom hours per week of instructing Russian to groups of beginning students. I had responsibility for planning and delivering daily lessons using the "Nachalo" textbook series, with accompanying workbook and audio materials. For second-year Russian, we used the "V Puti" textbook series, with accompanying workbook and audio materials. I was supervised in my teaching by the Language Program Coordinator, who assisted the instructors by organizing the course syllabi and ordering textbooks. However, I was personally responsible for giving daily lessons, assigning and grading homework, and administering and grading tests and exams. Before this, I had the opportunity to live and work abroad in Russia for three years, from 1999-2001. During graduate school I completed coursework in 4th and 5th-year Russian language, in addition to coursework in Russian and Slavic literature.
