I have more than 40 years' experience teaching on the secondary and college level, including personal tutoring of elementary to junior high school students. My special experience is teaching writing and reading comprehension as related to all the language arts, that is, fiction and non-fiction. I am certainly competent in statistics, having received an A in graduate level courses.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
In Anchorage, Alaska, I tutored elementary students for A to Z In-Home Tutoring (home office Nashville, TN) for four years. I did my job so well in terms of student achievement that A to Z offered me a position supervising other tutors.

I studied linguistics at NYU for an MA and received an A grade. More, I have practical experience in teaching phonics as a tutor with A to Z In-Home tutoring. As an excellent speller, I certainly know the nature of phonics.
I taught public speaking at West Babylon H.S., New York and at Talladega College, Talladega, Alabama.
