Hello everyone. My name is DeAnna Ames and I am very excited to create this profile. First a little bit about me to show you who I am. I am 24 years old and just recently graduated with my Masters in Biomedical sciences with hopes of one day becoming a physician. I also just got married to a wonderful man who is finishing his Masters in Social Work. I always start by telling people a little bit about my family, they are after all who helped make me who I am today. I am the oldest sister of two and in the middle of approximately twenty cousins and second cousins. My mom is a nurse who went through nursing school as she did a wonderful job of raising two daughters and my dad is prior military who now works in sales. I am very close to my mom's father, whom I call Popo (I was little when he was so dubbed). Some of my hobbies include reading, sports, laughing, traveling and learning, all of which I would prefer to do outdoors if at all possible. I am also an animal lover, as many can tell by my three cats and the four dogs I adopted but sadly had to leave with my parents since an apartment probably would not have survived them.
So why am I signing up to be a tutor? I love learning and enjoy passing that love of learning on. Life is an adventure and each step of the adventure has something to offer you just have to see it. I know what it is like to feel like you are drowning in a subject that you hate, and if I can help someone with that and maybe even help them enjoy the subject just a little bit then I will. I love both history and science, I know two subjects that most people run from. I have been a member of a tutoring team since high school and have always enjoyed it. I am very good at working with students who may have a problem learning as well, I myself am dyslexic as is my sister. Just because you learn differently doesn't mean you can't learn it just means you need to find a different way to learn the material, its not impossible I promise. I look forward to tutoring each of you and learning from each of you.
As you can see from the subjects I have marked I love science. I have two college degrees in science and understand that it is challenging. But what is life without just a few mountains to climb? I have taken a class or more in each of the subjects I selected and have received an A in all of them (the only classes I received below an A in involved chemistry or physics). While working on my masters degree I had the opportunity to take an Anatomy class at a medical school, this allowed me to see the human anatomy, perfect and imperfect, up close through the use of cadavers.
I hope you all contact me so we can get the ball rolling. I have very flexible hours and am very excited to help you understand whatever you need, even if you just need someone who is knowledgeable about the material to quiz you. Hello everyone. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taken 4 Anatomy and Physiology courses on my way to getting my masters and received an A in all of them. I have numerous aids to help in any area needed and am skilled at taking different approaches to the same subject.
I have taken multiple Biology courses on my way to achieving my masters degree in Biomedical Sciences. I have received an A in most if not all and have enjoyed every hour spent learning this subject. My undergraduate courses were taken at a private university known for the Biology program, these courses were reinforced and added to by my Masters program, which I just recently graduated from with honors.
I have taken two Microbiology courses, one in my undergraduate program and one in my graduate program. I received an A in both courses (lecture and lab). The graduate level Microbiology course added an emphasis in immunology to the Microbiology subject.
