About Jeffery

Hello. I am a professional engineer who loves helping others understand complicated concepts. I graduated from Seabreeze High School in Daytona Beach, FL in 2009. I went on to get my Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. I graduated in 2014. I have been active in the Boy Scouts of America since I was 10 and am currently an Assistant Den Leader for a cub scout den. I have been teaching cub and boy scouts for over 6 years, and I was a counselor at cub scout summer camp for 4 years consecutively. I have also made appearances for several organizations as a professional engineer to talk about my career.

I hope to help any of my students firmly grasp the concepts I tutor them in such that they can then confidently teach others. My teaching method has been developed over many years of leadership and instructing in various clubs and organizations, through observation of other instructors/teachers, and through a natural ability to relate complex concepts in a simple manner. The first step for me is always to get to know my student(s) and find out what type of learner they are. Then I try to teach to that strength in a manner that makes it easiest for my students. I have found that the most rewarding type of learning is when the students can puzzle out the concepts on their own. To facilitate this, I explain what they need to know, then I let my students do as much as they can on their own. Then when they have questions or get stuck I am there to assist them in figuring it out. I won't hand them the answer, but I will stick with them until they have internalized the information. I am a very patient teacher as long as my student(s) put in the effort on their end.

I have a degree in engineering, a highly math intensive subject. I have always been good at math and am delighted when I can help someone else excel.

Feel free to contact me for a phone consultation (phone number available in my profile). I also can be contacted by email through the website and will gladly assist in any way I can.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Calculus

I am an Aerospace Engineer. Calculus is a big part of my career and I am confident that I can help you through this rough patch and on towards a better future.

English

I work regularly with special needs kids (ADD, ADHD, Learning Disability, etc) and am very patient with my students. I have always been good at English and regularly topped my classes in grades.

Prealgebra

As a professional engineer I have a firm grasp on math. I have had a few friends and colleagues who were dyslexic so I know how to interact with them. I am confident that my teaching method will succeed.

Precalculus

I am an engineer (which has a good deal of calculus in it). I have over 8 years of experience teaching all age groups.

Reading

I am an assistant den leader for a cub scout den and have been teaching children for years in various capacities. I am great with kids and patient with my students. I welcome your response where we can hopefully come to an agreement that is most beneficial for your daughter. In the end, it's all about the kids, after all.
