Epidemiologist with 3+ years tutoring in math and sciences

Alexander M.
Hey everyone,

My names Alex. I graduated from Emory University with my Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology and now work as an Epidemiologist alongside a team of researchers focused on modeling the burden of Infectious Diseases across the United States. Prior to my time at Emory, I studied Biomedical Sciences at the University of Central Florida. It was at UCF where I discovered my love of science, and specifically medical research, but math has always been my forte and is the reason I'm...

SAS
#### SAS

Recent graduate from Emory University with a Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology. 2+ years of consistent SAS use in a variety of procedures ranging from data manipulation to model creation and testing.

Statistics
#### Statistics

Currently work as a data analyst with a pediatric research team where I’m required to not only know statistical methods and how they can be used in research, but have the ability to apply them computationally with large datasets using programs such as SAS or R.
Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology from Emory University (2019). Coursework: Biostatistical methods 1 and 2, Epidemiologic Methods 1 and 2, Epidemiologic modeling (all of which require upper level understanding of statistics).

Algebra 2,
#### Algebra 2

Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology from Emory University (2019).
Coursework required: Biostatistical methods 1 and 2, Epidemiologic Methods 1 and 2, Epidemiologic Modeling.
Scored in the 70th percentile on GRE mathematics.
Informally taught math as an undergraduate (mostly precalculus, calculus 1 and statistics).
Currently doing data management/analysis where understanding how to implement mathematical concepts into medical research is a crucial portion of my job.

Biology,
#### Biology

Informal biology tutor - Sophomore year at UCF.Demonstrated mastery of concepts from biology 1 to immunology, endocrinology, embryology and molecular biology while at UCF.

Prealgebra,
#### Prealgebra

Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology. Required coursework: biostatistical methods 1 and 2, Epidemiological methods 1 and 2, and Epidemiologic Modeling.
Scored in 70th percentile on GRE mathematics
While in middle and high school, consistently took (and passed with A’s or high B’s) mathematics courses above the standard level required by that grade.
Taught math informally to undergraduates (precalculus, statistics, calculus 1) while at UCF.

GRE

Alexander has provided examples of their subject expertise by answering **2 questions** submitted by students on Wyzant’s Ask an Expert.

## Highly Recommended

Alexander is passionate about Epidemiology, and he made it easy for me to understand. Some concepts clicked faster than others, but he always showed patience and explained it repeatedly until I got it. What I really like about him is that he did not rush through our lesson, but he took time with me and wanted to make sure I understood.

## Knowledgable, patient and attentive tutor

Alex did a great job assisting my son in his Biology course. Alex is clear and concise in his explanations. My son liked the way Alex gave him cues to helped him remember various concepts and processes. My son also appreciated Alex asking him questions after explaining because it assured he understood. These examples, along with others, have helped my son build confidence, knowledge and skills in the classroom and laboratory of his Biology course. My son came home today bragging about how he was able to answer questions with assurance. The smile on his face was priceless! I will continue to utilize Alex as a tutor my son. Sincerely, Carla

## Very Patient!

Alex was really good at applying the lessons that I worked on in class to real life. His experience working in statistics helped him deliver the information in a clear way. He was also able to identify the items that were important to know and how they may appear on a test. He requested documents from my class in advance so that he could be prepared for our lesson and not waste time. I would definitely recommend Alex for help with Statistics.
