About Gerald

I am an archaeologist who is retired from the University of Memphis and now does archaeological consulting throughout the Southeast. Most of my work at the University included directing a combined archaeological museum, research center, and reconstructed prehistoric Indian village where we held special events in cooperation with the main southeastern Indian tribes. Our archaeological work was done almost entirely by students in various classes who then worked on various projects as employees. Our student/employees continued their training on the job, under the principle that the more they learned to do, the more valuable they became to us. One result of this was that they often became outstanding graduate students and then professionals in their own right.

My science qualifications center on both Masters and Doctoral degrees in Anthropology/Archaeology with a Masters minor in Geography and graduate level courses in Geography while working on the doctorate. Additional informal work in Biology came with my parents (biologists working mainly in Ecology) and colleagues in various other disciplines as they applied on various research projects. Anything which people do or affects their world is fair and necessary game for study in order to understand their way of life!

I encourage students needing assistance with classes in natural sciences, social sciences, and the analysis and reporting of information about people's customs to contact me and discuss their needs and interests.
