I like math and physics, but I like tutoring them more. My goal as a tutor is to teach students how to learn difficult concepts. I want my students to eventually not need me. A lot of students that I've taught have become tutors in the material themselves.

At the beginning of each session, I go over the short-term and long-term goals of the session and adjust my tutoring style accordingly. I am always looking for feedback. If in the middle of a session you don't feel like I'm doing the very best job possible, we will take a step back and try something else.

Please contact me if you have any questions or want to schedule a session!

Calculus,

Calculus

I love calculus. I took AP calculus AB in high school, and then made a 5 by self-studying for the AP calculus BC exam. At university, my test scores allowed me to skip the two sequence class, but I took both calculus application classes and used calculus in the majority of my physics classes. I also have tutored it extensively at the college level, both for university and community college students.
Physics,

Physics

I majored in physics at UT. I have been an undergraduate teaching assistant for algebra-based physics, where I taught the lab portion and led office hours and reviews for lecture portion. Most of my tutoring experience is in physics 1 and 2.
SAT Math,

SAT Math

I made a 780 on my SAT Math and a 770 on my SAT Math II subject test in 2011. Since then I have tutored all of the math subjects tested on the exam individually.

Whitney is a great teacher

Whitney helped my daughter this year with Geometry. It had been a difficult class due to a teacher new to teaching advanced level Geometry and Whitney really helped my daughter by explaining things that were not being explained in class. She ended up with A's and B's all year with Whitney's help.

Best tutor for Calculus

Whitney taught me Calculus at a time when I was very under-confident about my skills in the area. Whitney is very knowledgeable and articulate. She was patient and very professional in the way she taught and made sure that I understood everything. My results have improved by leaps and bounds since I started studying with Whitney. Thank you, Whitney!

Very knowledgeable

Whitney is the best! She’s awesome in that she always shows up on time and is very patient and let’s you work through things step by step. Plus she’s very personable and easy to talk to, so it makes it easy to ask questions and not feel like they’re dumb questions.

Great SAT math tutor

Whitney taught me SAT math. She has a deep understanding of all the material and knows exactly how to explain it so I can understand. Things I didn’t know how to do, she went in depth with more examples to explain.

Great AP Physics tutor

Whitney was very flexible with late notice. She wasted no time getting into the meat of the lesson and developed a good rapport with my daughters. 30 minutes well spent.

Very helpful!

My daughter has been struggling in physics and Whitney helped her pinpoint the weak spots in her knowledge base. We will be scheduling another session, because Whitney was so helpful.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

I had no idea what to expect from this first calculus session with my child. Whitney is indeed very knowledgeable and was adaptable to what was needed. The result speaks for itself as my child received her first quiz A in this class!

Confidence builder

My daughter is a sophomore in high school and takes Physics Honors. After her first online session with Whitney she gained so much more confidence in the subject. My daughter said she explains well and is easy to understand. It's great she has found a connection with someone that we will use again!! Thank you, Whitney!!
