I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2016 with an honors physics degree and business certificate. Hook 'em! Although I'm still a newer WyzAnt tutor, I have a lot of tutoring experience. While I was a student at UT, I tutored 700+ hours in college-level math and science classes. I am also a CRLA - certified master tutor.

I like math and physics, but I like tutoring them more. My goal as a tutor is to teach students how to learn difficult concepts. I want my students to eventually not need me. A lot of students that I've taught have become tutors in the material themselves.

At the beginning of each session, I go over the short-term and long-term goals of the session and adjust my tutoring style accordingly. I am always looking for feedback. If in the middle of a session you don't feel like I'm doing the very best job possible, we will take a step back and try something else.

Please contact me if you have any questions or want to schedule a session!

Calculus,

Calculus

I love calculus. I took AP calculus AB in high school, and then made a 5 by self-studying for the AP calculus BC exam. At university, my test scores allowed me to skip the two sequence class, but I took both calculus application classes and used calculus in the majority of my physics classes. I also have tutored it extensively at the college level, both for university and community college students.
Physics,

Physics

I majored in physics at UT. I have been an undergraduate teaching assistant for algebra-based physics, where I taught the lab portion and led office hours and reviews for lecture portion. Most of my tutoring experience is in physics 1 and 2.
SAT Math,

SAT Math

I made a 780 on my SAT Math and a 770 on my SAT Math II subject test in 2011. Since then I have tutored all of the math subjects tested on the exam individually.

Knowledgeable and Thorough!

Whitney gave very good guidance on important math concepts that were needed for homework. She is very efficient and will ensure you know what’s going on every step of the way. Whitney was very patient and allowed me to write down all of the notes I needed and she is prompt. I’d highly recommend her for anyone needed assistance with math.

Super Detail Oriented

Whitney was very detail oriented with explaining all the steps. I’ve watched many videos for days and they tend to miss the basic steps. She was very kind and always made me feel that I was confident with my answers. Sometimes I got the steps wrong... then she went back and made sure I totally understood everything. Even went the extra mile to give me a similar problem to make sure I understood the steps. Wow! Thank you from the top of my precal brain and middle of my heart ❤️. I can’t wait to schedule another session tomorrow.

Excellent

Whitney was excellent. She went through the information and presented it in a way that was easy to understand. I can already tell that I'll be able to progress well based on the way that she communicates. This will be very helpful being that it is an accelerated summer course.

Terrific AP Calculus Tutor

Whitney helped my 14 year old (8th grade) son prepare for the AP Calculus exam after his school closed because of Coronavirus. She caught him up on the material that he had missed and guided him to answer sample questions from prior years.

Greatness

Whitney did a great job explaining the concepts... and was able to complete the rest of the problems herself. Thanks!!

Math Wizard

My daughter needed some last minute help with her Alg 2 homework. After about 30 minutes of working together, my daughter felt like a new math wiz. Whitney helped her understand some complex functions to where she was able to keep working productively after their session was over. Whitney is AWESOME!

Whitney is AWESOME!!!

My daughter had a HUGE last min problem with her AP Calc BC, and I was stuck. Whitney saved us!! She was easy to understand, she did not do the work for my daughter, and my daughter thought that she really understood the concepts after working with Whitney. She was also very personable and efficient. A+

Very patient and thorough

My daughter loves Whitney and appreciates how patient and thorough she is. My daughter’s physics grade has gone up since working with Whitney and she is much more confident in this subject.
