About Kallia

I got my first experience with tutoring while in high school. I tutored young children after school. I can specifically remember the first time I realized that tutoring made a difference. One of the children that attended the after school care struggled to read. His teachers had all but given up on him and he had even been moved to special education classes. I found resources online and I was finally able to connect with him. I worked with him every day for a couple of months. Finally, I asked him to read a passage to his mom. As soon as he completed the first sentence, his mom began to weep with joy. She never thought that he would be able to read because that's what the teachers told her. It was a life changing experience for me and I went on to eventually become an educator.

I currently work for a for-profit college institution where I make a difference by teaching adult learners. I have been teaching on a collegiate level for almost 4 years. Prior to that, I tutored elementary school children in various areas such as reading, spelling, and mathematics. I am confident that I can assist you in these areas for all ages.

I absolutely love to read and expand my vocabulary. I have played music in some capacity for the last 20 years. Music is my life and I love to share that passion with others.

I look forward to hearing from you to help you achieve your goals!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
