About Daniel

Teaching is an opportunity for me to make more permeable the minds and selves of those I teach to the larger world of ideas, cultures, and the arts. I teach and I tutor because I have to; for me it is an imperative to foster the growth and present well-being of anyone who is open to new ideas and ways of seeing. My teaching life began in September of 2012 at the University of Oregon, where I taught Creative Writing and Writing Composition as a Graduate Teaching Fellow. Since receiving my MFA in Poetry, I have taught Writing Composition and American Literature at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

My passion for writing and a life-long love of literature and reading make an excellent tutor. I possess a keen eye for detail and the sounds and music of language. If I begin on a particular path of learning with a student, I ensure that we reach our end-goal together and that no stone is left unturned along the way. I am qualified to teach ACT and SAT English as well as all forms and genres of creative writing and essay writing.

Please contact me to learn more and schedule lessons. I look forward to working with you!
