My teaching style is one that encourages students to reach conclusions on their own with me as a guide to adjust their thinking. I find that they learn concepts in a more lasting manner in this way.

Biology,

Biology

I majored in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Princeton. My coursework included organismal biology, evolution, community ecology, tropical vertebrate ecology, tropical biology, coral reef biology, cell biology, and animal behavior. I've taught biology as a nature instructor through the Friends of the National Zoo.
Physics,

Physics

I took Physics I on a pass/fail basis at Princeton, receiving a passing grade in the class. I subsequently took Physics I and II at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and received As in both courses. I frequently led informal study groups for my peers. I have also studied physics in preparation for the MCAT, and am familiar with useful techniques to approaching problems on that exam.

Genetics,

Genetics

I took BY 210 - Genetics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and received an A in the course. I'm currently taking BY 437 - Epigenetics at UAB and doing quite well in it as well. Additionally, my major required a good understanding of genetic principles as the underlying mechanism of evolution and natural selection.
Organic Chemistry,

Organic Chemistry

I received As in both Organic Chemistry I & II at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, as well as in the associated lab courses. I've also studied organic chemistry in the context of MCAT preparation, and am familiar with techniques and strategies useful on that exam. While taking the course, I frequently led informal study groups and review sessions for my peers.

Zoology,

Zoology

I have a BA in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) from Princeton University. My undergraduate thesis focused on animal behavior, and my coursework included Tropical Vertebrate Ecology, Tropical Biology, Coral Reef Biology, Animal Behavior, Cellular Biology, and Organismal Biology. While there were no courses offered at Princeton that explicitly focused on zoology, the EEB program and its classes taught the fundamentals of zoology in a general sense.
