I have over 20 years of experience in the fields of biology, ecology, and environmental science. I can help a student in the areas of anatomy and physiology, basic or introductory biology, ecology, entomology, ichthyology, or any organismal zoology course.
I can also help students in the subject of environmental science or environmental toxicology.
I also have a combined experience of 15 years in teaching and training. These experiences have helped me learn about how to teach others.
My philosophy on learning is that learning is a life-long process. Attending school is just the beginning and should simply prepare you to continue to learn as you go through your adult years. Learning should be enjoyable, and although sometimes the learning of a subject is not, the end result of knowledge is!
I understand that many folks do not learn in the same way. I had to learn that in order to make good grades. I found that in order to learn I had to write everything down and talk to myself as I did it. I am a kinetic and oral learner. As a teacher, I have helped students struggling with biology learn their particular learning method. These students no longer needed my assistance after a short time and were making better grades on their own!
I can help you find your learning method, help you find a better way to study, and help you become an independent learner. Soon you will be making better grades on your own!
I love biology, zoology and ecology. I tell you what, someone doesn't major in those areas if they want to make a ton of money! You study those courses because you love them. You live it! I loved my coursework and thoroughly enjoyed my college years... all 13 of them! I want YOU to enjoy the various sciences of biology too! You can. I know it.
NOTE: I'm a working mom, so I my schedule fills up with various doctor appointments for my kids sometimes. So please be somewhat flexible in the number of times we meet. Thank you for helping her prepare for finals. She told us you gave her tips to help her relax. She thought it went well. We will have to wait and see. Thank you for being so kind to her. She said one of the lessons really helped! I have asked her to tell you what was the difference for her in that lesson. Happy Holidays. Thanks! You made a difference.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to tutor in anatomy based on my education. I have a BSc in Zoology, a MSc in Zoology and a PhD in Entomology. Courses that I took while in college that apply to my qualification to tutor in anatomy include comparative anatomy and physiology and animal physiology.
I am qualified to tutor in biology based on my college education. I have a BSc in Zoology, a MSc in Biology, and a PhD in Entomology. Although I ended up in a specific science (i.e., entomology) I have taken many course involving human biology to round out my studies.
I've studied the subject of ecology for about 13 years and worked within the field for about 10 years. Although I no longer work in the field, I am married to an ecologist and basically, studying nature is a personal enjoyment. I can assist the freshman/sophomore level student with introductory courses. Ecology is what I call a "gray science." There very few absolutes. You have to understand the concepts and then apply them, understanding that the concepts are not totally encompassing or perfect.
I am qualified to tutor in biology based on my college education. I have a BS in Zoology, a MS in Biology, and a PhD in Entomology. Although I ended up in a specific science (i.e., entomology) I have taken many course involving human biology to round out my studies. Courses that I took that apply to physiology include animal physiology, embryology, comparative anatomy and physiology, and various organism specific courses, such as ichthyology and entomology.
I have several years of writing professional documents. I also would proofread my coworkers documents before submission. I currently work part-time as a scientific proofreader for TextCheck, Inc. where I proofread scientific journal articles for non-English speaking authors.
I am qualified to tutor a student in areas of entomology and ichthyology based on my education (PhD in entomology from Ohio State University and BSc and MSc in zoology from NLU). I have almost 20 years experience identifying insects and fish that I received through education and work experience.
