About Christopher

My name is Christopher, but I go by Mitch. I am a Sophomore at Auburn University studying Political Science and going into Law. I am a graduate of Alabama Christian Academy in Montgomery where I graduated as Salutatorian.

I was a 2014 National Merit Scholarship Competition finalist and scholarship winner. During High-School I took several AP courses: I received 5s on the English Literature and Composition, US History, and European History exams, a 4 on the Calculus AB Exam, and a 3 on Government (I did not take the AP course for AP government just a basic class) and received the AP Scholar with Distinction award for my success.

I made a 34 on the Science section of the ACT, I know how to teach ACT Science, not general science. This section of the ACT is not a test of scientific knowledge, but assorted reasoning and chart comprehension skills. I am well versed in those skills and will be able to instruct students on how to use these skills and greatly improve their ACT Science scores. I have noticed that the Science section of the ACT is the section where most students will receive their lowest score, but I have also found that scores in the Science section are the easiest to improve with a knowledgeable tutor.

On the ACT I received a 35 on the Reading Comprehension section. I also received 5s in AP English Composition, US History, and European History, subjects where success is entirely based upon reading comprehension. My vocabulary scores on the PSAT were enough to qualify as a National Merit Semi-Finalist, and my scores on the SAT Critical Reading and Writing sections were high enough to qualify as both a finalist and winner in the National Merit Scholarship Program. My writing and proofreading skills are fine-tuned from voluminous amounts of writing, both professional and creative. I have turned in several 15-20+ research and term papers that have consistently received perfect and near perfect scores.

My hours are extremely flexible at the moment, but this could change drastically in the near future so please contact me as soon as possible in order to schedule sessions at the most optimal time.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT English

I received a 35 on the Reading section, and a 35 on the writing section of the ACT. On the old SAT I received a 770 out of 800 in Reading and was a national merit scholar recipient.

ACT Reading

I received a 35 on the reading section of the ACT when I took it. I know several tricks to help improve reading comprehension, the most important of which is the underline method, important not because it highlights information for reference, but because it improves comprehension of the reading.

ACT Science

I received a 33 on the science section of the ACT. I know that most students do not excel in this section because they are confused by the scientific jargon and do not understand that this section is really about studying charts and graphs, critical thinking, and reading comprehension.
