Currently, I am a Human Resources Analyst for the City of Opelika in Alabama. In this role, I am in charge of training all of our city employees on sexual harassment, workplace violence and ethics. Additionally, I locate, coordinate and assist vendors during the training process. I also assist citizens with the application process online and guide them through the process of submitting a professional resume, cover letter and application.
Prior to delving into the world of HR, I protected and served the citizens as a police officer for six years. In this role, I was a Field Training Officer, which means I have extensive experience training/"tutoring" young officers on everything from patrol operations to report writing. I was also a shift supervisor. In this role, I was charged with reviewing, editing and proofreading reports, memorandums and warrants.
I have many certifications attained over the last 20-plus years. I am a Vice President of Public Relations for the Toastmasters International club in Opelika, AL.I am a certified Alabama Human Resources Specialist and a certified Alabama Payroll Specialist. I am also the City of Opelika Risk Manager.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Currently, I am a practitioner of the following martial arts: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (green belt), Judo, Traditional Kickboxing and Muay Thai Kickboxing. I have been practicing for over three years. I have competed in the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament. I am currently a member of Auburn MMA.
In my 20+ years' combined military, law enforcement and human resources experience, I have given hundreds of talks in front of thousands of people. Also, I have been a member of Toastmasters International for one year and am currently the Vice President of Public Relations for our local club. I have given thirteen speeches of 5-7 minutes long each. I have attained the Competent Communicator designation. Finally, I have attended and completed the 9-week Dale Carnegie Skills for Success course where I spoke in front of a large group on more than ten occasions.
