I'm a dedicated educator. My enthusiastic and dynamic teaching methods help to build a child's self-esteem and nurture a lifelong love of learning. I have been teaching since August 1996. I have taught most of those years in first and second grade, but I have also taught fourth and fifth grade as well as science lab for K-12. I am an experienced tutor. I have been tutoring children for about 15 years. I want children to realize they can do the work and achieve better understanding and grades.
I specialize in Elementary Education. Phonics instructions and decoding, reading comprehension, and math are the subjects I tutored the most. Developing study strategies tailored to your child is also a service I provide. Helping children feel success in school is my main goal.
I try to be flexible with my time. While I do need 2 hours in advance to cancel, if you are able to give notice sooner, please do so. I will be happy to schedule a make-up session.
I look forward to hearing from you to help your child achieve success. I'm a dedicated educator. Jean is working with my son on handwriting. Her previous experience as a teacher made her the perfect tutor. My son was initially leery to try tutoring but after his first lesson with Jean he was so excited to learn and "loved" tutoring. She is knowledgeable and patient and I would recommend her to anyone.
Jean is a wonderful tutor for my grandson. She has helped him with phonics and he is learning sight words. I would recommend her to anyone who has a child struggling with learning. She is patient and works with your schedule. She will work with the teacher to make sure that the child is getting what they need.
We have had a very positive experience with Ms. Jean. She has taken the time to see the root problem of my granddaughter's struggles and have devised a plan of action to help her excel academically in the subject she is failing. She has a lot of patience. She is a wonderful educator!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Master of Arts in Education from Spring Hill College, Mobile, AL and am a Certified Louisiana Elementary Teacher
I have a masters degree in education. I am a certified Louisiana teacher. I have taught both first and second grade for six years. In first grade, I taught students to write on the lines correctly with proper spacing as well as correct formation. In second grade, I had to teach cursive writing. By the end of second grade my students were writing everything in cursive.
I have a masters degree in education. I hold a valid Louisiana certification. I taught both first and second grade for six years. Phonics is the key to reading any word. In first grade, we continue reinforcing short vowels and teach long vowels, r controlled vowels, blends, etc with application. In second grade all these rules are reviewed, practiced for increased fluency, as well as adding additional skills.
