Alaska Pacific University (Master's)
I am a New Yorker who relocated to Alaska 12 years ago. I love learning, sharing, and teaching other. As an early admissions student to my Undergraduate program, I learned the hard work and discipline necessary to be a successful student, and the steps necessary for me to overcome obstacles that may get in the way of learning, including a variety of mental health and developmental issues that complicate the learning process. Through high school and college, I provided tutoring services and learned that each student has their own style of learning and understanding, and I work to help others find what works for them.
I specialize in tutoring English language arts, all levels of math up to precalculus, and college level psychology courses.
I am currently available from 9 am to 9 pm Monday through Friday and 10am to 3 Saturdays, and can travel tot students or meet online. For any questions or requests for appointments, please feel free to contact me! I look forward to hearing from you and helping you be successful in learning.
I received a minor in Math from the University at Albany State University of New York, and have since substitute taught and tutored math subjects from elementary math through precalculus.
I received my Master's Degree in 2012 in Psychology from Alaska Pacific University. I have 20 years of working in the mental health, psychology, and human services fields including some teaching to children with developmental delay such as Autism.
I received my Bachelor's Degree in English Studies. The skills I learned in school has allowed me to continue to express myself in written word in everyday and professional settings. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
