Bio

Students often have problems writing English and/or understanding what they read. But one-on-one tutoring with a well-trained, very-experienced, native-English writer and speaker means fast and enjoyable improvements. Through my customized lessons, students acquire improved English skills for academic, professional, and personal purposes. Currently, the students are grade school through college, and they learn to write better sentences, paragraphs, and essays, both fiction and nonfiction....

I can choose books that kids love, help bring their vocabulary up to the reading level, and explain the nuances, actions, plots, and purposes of story. There is so much more to read besides Harry Potter, and boys and girls are delighted when they find stories they can relate to.

English is famous for its irregular spelling--syllables often don't sound like they are spelled--but there are lots of simple rules that, once learned, make spelling more predictable and more accurate. I teach those rules along with root words, and see vast improvements in young writers' spelling.

I teach vocabulary that kids can relate to by teaching root words, descriptive words, action words, and word origins. That's a kid's best way to build a vocabulary that is not only useful but fun to use. The practice greatly enhances reading enjoyment as well as articulation when either speaking or writing.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor.

Louis helped my son's English with an emphasis of writing. It is the first time for my son to take tutoring classes so he was little bit nervous. Louis carefully and professionally assessed my son's needs. We appreciate his patient as he took sometime to get known my son before starting classes to make sure he feels comfortable. Indeed my son really enjoyed his well-prepared lesson! I totally recommend him as a professional and kind tutor.

Teaching in a way we can't

Mr. C. has been such a great help in tutoring my 12-year-old son in writing. He takes the time to identify where my son is having problems and is able to direct the lessons to deal with those issues directly.
