Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Baseball

I played baseball from kindergarten in t-ball to competitive levels in high school. I pitched, played shortstop, third base, and second base.

Chess

I love the game of chess! I became a nationally ranked player in elementary school and played in national tournaments at that time. As an adult I enjoy chess recreationally.

Football

I played competitive football while growing up. I was a running back on offense and cornerback on defense. I really enjoy working one on one with students studying things like football.

Painting

I have taught three community education classes titled "Painting from the Heart" to small groups of adults. I also painted a 20-foot-by-6-foot mural professionally when I was younger.

Reading

I have been reading for 36 years and have focused on teaching others, in a variety of subjects that all require reading, for the past 20 years. These subjects include English as a First and Second Language, science, US history, recreation, and cultural assimilation.
