After a few not so encouraging emails from his teacher, I decided to hire a real tutor (instead of peer tutor as we tried in the past). For the past couple of weeks Julia has been working with my son and below is the email I got from his teacher (my teeth crunched when I received the email until I read it):
"I wanted to email you to let you know that your son has been doing awesome in class these last two weeks. He has put forth great effort and has focused so well in class.
I knew I needed to look for help. After doing some internet searches, I came across WyzAnt. I spent some time reviewing the profiles of the English tutors in my area and decided to email three of them to see if any might be an appropriate fit. After careful consideration, I decided on Christy and couldn’t be more pleased. Christy’s prompt and professional response, especially the fact that she took the time to carefully read the finer points in my rather long email, sealed the deal for me.

Mitchell is very patient, reliable, and prompt. We would often communicate by email and before we would meet, I would email her the lectures from class, just to give a heads up on what our tutoring session would be about. She always offered to answer any questions by email if I had difficulty understanding other concepts. Mitchell was my tutor for the remainder of the semester after my first exam, and credit my 17 point jump on the second exam due to my sessions with her.
