I recently asked Philip to tutor Tom so that Tom could get a GED and go on to tech school to prepare himself for a career in computer technology. At first it looked like my plan wouldn't work because Tom wasn't used to living a normal diurnal schedule. But Philip was able to establish rapport with Tom, and before long Tom was determined to get a GED and was keeping a diurnal schedule. Except for the math test, Tom completed the other three GED tests in reasonable time.

He had been going to the adult education session for GED and kept getting within a few points of passing and had lost all confidence.
