She also taught me how to write in the Hindi script and corrected me immediately when I erred. I was also given homework so I could retain what I've learned. I'm looking forward to the next lesson.

Tara has the advantage of being really comfortable and fluent in colloquial American English, a quality not always found in Hindi speakers. This means he can suggest nuance and correct register for Hindi. He comes with flexibility in that he's willing to accommodate a student's learning style. In my case, I was very directive (pushy, assertive, call it what you will) and I met no conflict. He understands the grammar of Hindi, not always the case with native speakers.
