Hello, my name is Brian. I currently provide forensic accounting, fraud investigation, litigation support, valuation and small business consulting services, on a consulting/independent contracting basis. My professional background includes, among other things, providing audit and other assurance services at a Big 4 accounting firm for over six years. I also spent a portion of my career as a technical manager for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) where I planned, developed and reviewed content, verified technical accuracy, and assisted in the production of the Uniform CPA examination.
I attended the University of Delaware where I earned a Bachelors of Science in Accounting and Minor in Economics. My honors and certifications include: Dean's List, University of Delaware; Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE); Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF), AICPA; Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP), AICPA; Forensic Accounting Certificate, AIPCA, IFRS Certificate, AICPA and Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV), AICPA [in process]. My memberships include: AICPA; Forensic and Valuation Services Section, AICPA; ACFE; Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) and Philadelphia Area Chapter of the ACFE.
Although tutoring does bolster my curriculum vitae used to secure engagements in my primary line of work and provides a secondary source of income, I tutor primarily because it provides a sense of personal fulfillment to share knowledge and be part of the process where students of all ages and abilities achieve, and often even surpass, their goals. As a tutor I believe in only positive teaching methods, tailoring such methods to the needs of individual students and ensuring students have firm grasp of basic concepts which can then be applied to solve the even most complex problems. I strive to be patient, yet effective, and professional, yet friendly and relaxed. I also consider myself to be very flexible with scheduling due to autonomous nature of my primary work.
