To all my potential students and parents,
I want to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about my background and my life so you can get a better idea of who I am, how I can help you or your child, and the passion that propels the work I do.
I graduated High School just before my 15th birthday. I went away to Ripon College, WI on scholarship and earned my undergraduate degree in Chemistry and Physics. In lieu of work study, I tutored undergrad students in all areas of science and chemistry. I entered Medical School at 19 and unfortunately had to withdraw at the completion of my first year due to a diagnosis of an aggressive and rare form of Breast Cancer. Luckily, I went into remission at 22 years old and although the Medical College was offering me a spot in the upcoming year, it was blatantly clear what my career path would be. Nursing! It is hard to explain the experience you gain lying in a hospital bed fighting for your life. It's not the medicine that's hung by the nurse, or the excellent care I received in the ICU, it was the care that was given to my mom, sleeping countless nights in a hard chair next to my bed praying rosary after rosary for another chance at life. To be able to tell you how many nurses gave such care, I cannot. I am to this very day so incredibly impressed not only with the advanced skills of the nurses that cared for me, but for the GENUINE support, warmth, guidance, that was unselfishly given to my mom in her time of need. It was clear, I was meant to earn my degree in Nursing and give back to future patients, families, nurses, support staff, and students all that my mom and I received while I was a patient. I earned my BSN (Bachelors Science in Nursing) at Molloy College in Rockville Center. I earned much of my tuition money teaching nursing students who entered the college at-least one semester behind me. My graduating GPA in Nursing was a 4.0; my overall GPA was a 3.96 (Art history got me). The areas I excel in as a nursing tutor are Skills Lab including Care Plans, Courses: Pharmacology, Nursing I, II, Critical Care, Hospice, Community Health Nursing, Anatomy & Physiology I & II including LAB, Microbiology, Med/Surg, Cardiac/Telemetry, Pediatrics, Peds Critical Care, Hematology, Oncology, Urology, GI, Pulmonary, OB/GYN, Post Partum, Ante-Partum, Delivery Room Nursing, OR Nursing. In addition, I teach 4 times a year a test prep course for the NCLEX RN and LPN exams. I also teach a pharmacology exam prep class in 2 hour blocks each day for one week based on student need. Like the NCLEX prep, this can be done in groups vs. individually for cost savings. Please allow me to be clear when I say: I HAVE NEVER HAD A STUDENT FAIL NURSING SCHOOL OR FAIL THE BOARDS, EVER! I've been tutoring Nursing for 15 years and never once had a student fail. I can use any method to assist a student to learn a concept. I will go over time if need be to make sure a student is comfortable when they leave. Our world needs great nurses; with the base age of our elderly increasing; it is imperative we graduate competent nurses who not only have great base knowledge and skills, but also confidence and the ability to lead.
I am still employed per diem at a hospital as a Telemetry Nurse and at another Major LI hospital. For this hospital, I have 11 years of experience working on their Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Unit as well as the Bone Marrow/Stem Cell Transplant Unit. I currently tutor 3 second year nursing students and 1 first year student on a weekly basis from September to finals in late May. The average GPA of those 3 2nd yr. students was a 3.49; we have great goals for the upcoming year. I have plenty of room and time to take on new students. I am friendly, easy to talk to, and I hope you would not be embarrassed coming to me with ANY areas of your coursework with which you are having difficulties. I do NOT judge. No one is perfect; we all learn best in different ways. I have many, many tricks up my sleeve to assist you in learning the material; Just take a deep breath, I CAN help you, and you will catch up in no time and achieve the greatness you desire. Whomever you choose to assist you in your studies, I wish you the very best of luck and I can't wait to see you thriving as a nurse teaching the one's behind you.
The ASVAB is a test given by all branches of the military to measure your knowledge and ability. The test is taken over 3 hours and you will be tested in Ten different areas. Your ASVAB scores determine what jobs you will qualify for in the military.
It is super important, if you want ANY say as to what specialty you will be assigned, that you do extremely well on this test. As retired Army, medical core, I have been preparing students for the ASVAB for many years.
If you need help, do not wait until the last minute to start fine tuning your academic skills. You need adequate time to prepare and study for each of the ten sections. **Remember** High Score = better chance of getting your first choice Military Job. (and better pay grade)
I wish you all Good Luck! Thank you for honoring and protecting our country.
I have over 12 years of experience teaching and tutoring Nursing students Microbiology at both the Undergrad and Graduate level. In addition, I am an adjunct through the Department of Medicine and fill in, as necessary, teaching Micro to 2nd year Medical Students.
I have been teaching NCLEX prep for 15 years and have never had a student fail.
I have been tutoring Pharmacology for Nurses for over 10 years with never one single student in college or undergrad or certificate program ever failing the course or even a single test.
I have Successfully prepared Hundreds of High School Students for the following regents:
Global Studies, American History(US History), US Politics & Government (US History & Government)
Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics.
Prior to earning my Doctorate, I privately tutored and taught Regents Prep to High School Students as well as students who are Home-Schooled within the Smithtown and Sachem School Districts. The Regents exam is meant to test the skills and knowledge learned across the year and determine each students level of competency in that subject. The score your child will achieve is not only important for graduating with a Regents Diploma, but important for their applications and admission requirements for College.
I wish your child all the best this 2012/2013 School Year. If you would like to be tutored for the Regents, Please secure your spot ASAP as I do not believe in last minute studying for the exam. You need to properly prepare over 2-3 months so when you walk into the exam, on test day, you feel confident, ready, not stressed out, this will lead to a better testing experience and a much better overall score.
I have coached children's travel soccer since returning from Madrid in 1999. I also played with the US Womens National Team and during training camps for 5 years.
Hi, I've been teaching a Study Skills course at Molloy College for incoming freshman and Graduate Students for 12 years.
As a Doctor of Nursing Practice, I've been teaching students both in the classroom and privately the necessary components of the TEAS exam. The TEAS exam tests English verbal ability, Reading Comprehension, Science and Mathematics. Nursing school slots are extremely competitive. I utilize multiple techniques to enhance your critical thinking abilities, while mastering the necessary content, and often utilizing memory aids to assist the student in recalling difficult content information. I have successfully taught for over 13 years prep for the TEAS exam, as well as the NLN-PAX, NET, PSB-RN, and C-NET-RN; and more recently the HESI-A2 entrance exam.
