My name is Kristin and I'm here to help you have a rewarding educational experience!
I have spent my life devoted to four things: Communication, Education, Travel and the Arts. After completing my BA at Drew University in 2006, I left for the Czech Republic to gain teaching experience as an EFL Instructor.
Over the three years I spent in Prague, I taught English to many high-ranking executives for HSBC, Kozel Brewery, Ahold, Manpower, McCann-Ericson and the Czech Department of Transportation. My passion for language and communication then lead me to the University of Edinburgh’s school of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences. My communication skills with a multicultural student body lead me to be elected Post-Graduate Representative for the department of Applied Linguistics (Msc). As an avid thespian and comedian, I continue to perform onstage and even had the honor of participating in Edinburgh’s famous Fringe Arts Festival.
When it comes to education, I have a adopted a methodology that guides critical thinking and self-discovery; helping people to find their own way to an answer rather than focus on academic regurgitation. This includes non-verbal guidance, open ended questioning and discourse analysis. In my experience, the largest road-blocks to learning are psychological; feelings of defeat, stupidity and lack of confidence. I strive to break down these barriers and try to make the educational experience less stressful, thereby opening up students to academic possibilities. Sensitive to students with ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia, Speech Impediments & Aphasia.
