My passion is learning. I believe in the power of knowledge. My love for acquiring knowledge lead me to a rewarding career in the field of teaching. I have been teaching for 11 years at the high school level. During these years, I have been able to teach various courses such as biology (english/spanish), physical science (english/spanish), and Anatomy & Physiology (regular/honors). As a science teacher, I have also had the opportunity to enhance my knowledge of science by participating in various research programs at various institutions throughout New Jersey. The most unforgettable research experience was one where I was offered the opportunity to be part of a research team that created an experiment to be carried out in the presence of gravity as well as in microgravity. This opportunity was made possible at the NASA headquarters in Houston, Texas on a trip aboard the G1 Force plane. In science, the possibilities are endless!
My tutoring experience has been with former and current students as well as few college-level students in the courses of Biology and Anatomy & Physiology. Tutoring services offered are geared for students needing assistance in Biology. Tutoring in other areas based on courses mentioned above may be discussed if there is need. The tutoring sessions have proven to be effective as evidenced by successful completion of such courses according to students' testimonies. This serves as motivation for me to offer such services to others in need.
My goals for the tutoring sessions are to provide a learning experience that satisfies the specific need of the student as well as the parents. Tutoring sessions involve review of content learned in regular class, identifying areas for improvement, providing some hands-on experiences (if possible), and periodic assessments to review mastery of content. It also includes identifying study habits and implementing more study skills that will help the student achieve success in the subject area. Furthermore, I ask for feedback from students to ensure that they are comfortable with the methods used and feel confident that they will succeed.
Although I have a 24-hour cancellation policy, I am open for negotiating makeup classes. Sessions would take place at a convenient public location within the area.

I like to provide students opportunities to review the content through games, hands-on actitivities and different study skills that will help them memorize anatomical terms as well as apply what they've learned to real life situations.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. I have taught Biology for over 10 years at the high school level to monolingual and bilingual students. In addition, my research experience in biology and chemistry has allowed me to acquire greater knowledge of these subjects as it pertains to the classroom as well as scientific research.

I have experience in preparing students for the Biology Competency Test by creating review games such as Jeopardy, sample questions for small groups, flashcards, group discussions for sample open-ended questions.
For anatomy and physiology classes, I create interactive activities within lectures where students serve as models for identification of bones, regional terms, and other anatomical terms that need to be memorized.
Hands-on activities are implemented so that students can actively learn about concepts discussed in class.
Other study techniques include review of notes, practice problems, games, and online resources that help students review concepts, complete diagrams to review anatomical terms, and practice quizzes and tests.
