Hello! I am a former high school teacher who loves helping students learn about science and math. I earned my B.S. in Biology from UNC Chapel Hill and my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Delaware.
I have a wide range of teaching experiences: I spent a year and half as a Doctor of Physical Therapy student before I decided to become a teacher. I started with Delaware Nature Society as an Education Intern, where I taught students pre-K through 7th grade in school outreaches and field studies. After earning my Master's in Education, I taught high school science in Delaware and North Carolina: Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Earth Science, and Plant Science. I also spent a year creating College Biology video lessons for an educational website. But my favorite type of teaching is to work one-on-one with students... so I finally ended up here on WyzAnt! :)
I take an intuitive approach to my tutoring, which allows me to meet each student where they are and move them along at their own pace. I have successfully tutored tough subjects like PreCalculus and AP Chemistry, and I've had plenty of success with students who have learning challenges like ADHD. Students connect easily with my easy-going, down-to-earth personality. I always make sure my students are comfortable with content before moving on. While I do thoroughly enjoy science and math, I appreciate that my students don't always share my enthusiasm! So I always strive to make learning a positive experience, even through the most muddlesome math problems. ;)
