Hello Potential Students!
It is a pleasure to be considered for your supplemental learning. My background includes graduate degrees in psychology and clinical research. I have experience one-on-one and in the classroom with elementary as well as college students. I also have career experience in professional writing and research data analysis.
My style tends to be patient and supportive while actively encouraging students to tackle challenging subject matter. I look for multiple ways to present information so that students understand it from various perspectives, able to apply their knowledge to both academic and practical situations.
I look forward to hearing from you about your particular needs and how I may be of service. Perhaps if the fit is right, our connection will turn out to be an enriching relationship for us both.
I am convinced it is essential that children develop a strong foundation in math. Possessing a clear and sound understanding of mathematical fundamentals builds confidence. A lack of the same can affect their attitude about and their success in math for the rest of their academic careers. I not only have the materials (texts, workbooks, and games) to help children learn, I also have the patience and ability to explain the concepts in ways they understand. It is my goal to help my students see the interrelatedness of mathematical concepts as well as their practical applications.
Written word often differs structurally from commonly spoken word. When we are unaware of such differences, it is more difficult to comprehend what we read sometimes. Not to mention, our speech and reading skills are not always at equal levels.
My experience includes being able to help students learn how to read with expression, and to break down sentences in order to comprehend even complex reading – everything from storybooks to essays to academic journal articles. Along with supplementary materials to improve reading, grammar and writing (which often improves as one’s reading does), I have the patience to work with students on phonics and pronunciation. I also provide lots of encouragement as we advance toward our lesson goals.
I can help you complete work for statistics courses and research projects. Using SPSS software, I have created datasets and analyzed data.
