"A great tutor that would make Mary McLeod Bethune proud!"
Kian from Waldorf, MD on 12/21/12
Dr. Tina is very attentive, knowledgeable and an asset to education. From day one she has been an advocate for the enhancement of our child's education. Our daughter's tutoring sessions with Dr. Tina has quickly made a difference in the classroom. Incomplete work that use to be sent home has disappeared, our daughter has improved greatly. Thank you, Dr. Tina.
Dr. Tina replied on 12/22/2012:
Thank you very much Mr. K! We put together an individualized plan that you were not afraid to support and help carry out. Your daughter is an intelligent and wonderful young person. I am always here to help and be an active team player for the best education around. Again, thank you - to you and your wife - for allowing me to continuously help.
Shane from Brandywine, MD on 4/7/14
Tina is very patient with our 8-year-old with dyslexia. Our daughter enjoys working with her and always looks forward to her sessions. Meeting at the library is nice and encourages both our children to read more and check out books.
Dr. Tina replied on 4/7/2014:
Thank you for the positive feedback. You have been remarkable stakeholders within your daughters' lives and team players! When we conferenced and identified the elements causing much discourse, you followed the plan-of-action created as a team. Your willingness and courage to move forward and make the necessary changes allowed us to propel so far forward! Thank you for being great partners! I love working with your family!!!
Erin from Silver Spring, MD on 3/26/14
I have been working with Dr. Tina B. for my Praxis II test! WOW! Her approach to the test was great and I found her methods to be very effective! She has a positive vibe, telling me, "Hey, you know the information, but we gotta spice it up a little and get it on the exam."
She encourages me to continue to study the way I have been, and advised me on how to understand questions better (which is my weak point). She has reassured me that she will get me to pass the test and I believe her! She is worth meeting!
Dr. Tina replied on 3/26/2014:
Ms. Erin, thank you for the positive and detailed feedback. It is a pleasure to work with you, as we strive towards achieving the intended goals. You are a hard worker and enthusiastic! Again, thank you for the positive feedback and opportunity!

More than anything else, Dr. Tina has the ability to explain the subjects to my son, and guide him through the learning process.

As always, I enjoy helping you to ensure that your son gets the best!

"Professional and interactive"
Ziporia from Upper Marlboro, MD on 9/5/13
Dr. B has been great for my daughter. She has been struggling with college Algebra and we hope Dr. B can help unlock the missing link for her. Dr. B is also punctual and has a unique way of connecting with her students. I will update the profile at mid terms.
September 6, 2013. My daughter passed her sat Math class all because Dr. B blocked the Math haze... now we are back for another semester. It's a new Math and we look forward to more interactive tutoring and mentoring.
Dr. Tina replied on 9/7/2013:
Thank you, Mrs. Z, for the update and positive review! The sessions are highly engaging, productive, and fun-filled. Thank you for the opportunity to work with you and your family! I look forward to many more sessions!
"Building Confidence while Learning"
Alicia from Accokeek, MD on 8/24/13
Dr. Tina has made a difference in the success of my kids. I started late last school year and I could see the changes in their knowledge level and confidence. After a short summer break, they are excited to be working with Dr. Tina again. She has given them a thirst for knowledge and I saw the results in their schoolwork last year so I am excited about the possibilities of benefiting from a full school year. If your child is struggling in school, you won't be disappointed.
Dr. Tina replied on 8/26/2013:
Hello Ms. Alicia,
Thank you for recognizing and appreciating the hard work that is infused into the sessions and lessons, while giving my undivided attention to each of your babies' learning styles and educational needs. It is a pleasure to work with you, as we coordinate, revise, and implement the plan-of-action!
"Dr Tina is awesome"
Diana from Clinton, MD on 5/19/13
I never thought that I would ever understand Algebra until I met Dr. Tina. The description I got of her when I was looking for a tutor fit her perfectly. Dr. Tina is very patient and sweet, I love her techniques and her way of getting them across so you can understand in your own way. Since I started with her I am doing much better. Thank you Dr. Tina.
Dr. Tina replied on 5/20/2013:
Hello Ms. Diana, thank you for the review. It is always very pleasant to work with you, and see you put every effort forth. You are determined, committed, and full of liveliness! Thank you for the opportunity to know you and work with you!!!
Terri from Fort Washington, MD on 2/26/13
Dr. Tina B was very patient with my son. She takes the time to talk to him, about himself, his wants, his preferences, his goals. I think that's very good to connect with your student. So far so good. It's only been 1 session, but I like the direction she is taking.
Dr. Tina replied on 2/27/2013:
Ms. Terri, I wholeheartedly appreciate your comment. Thank you for the positive feedback! It is with excitement that I welcome infinite sessions with your son, as I help him "navigate the waters" of personal, educational, and professional life.

We are very happy with Dr. Tina as we have been able to observe that she is an excellent tutor. She has a comprehensive knowledge of various subjects, knows how to teach each of them, and makes the learning session challenging, beneficial, and pleasant. She instructs and tests my son on math, spelling, reading, speech, and other subjects that are of every day use. She is patient, a good communicator, has excellent diction. This is very important for my son's speech/comprehension. My son likes Dr. Tina and feels that she is helping him.

Taisha from Upper Marlboro, MD on 8/28/12
I have two daughters; one in elementary school and the other in high school. Dr. Tina tutors them both. They adore her and look forward to their sessions. They are both excited about learning for the first time in years. Her ability to nurture them and give specialized attention allows them to be less guarded. They know she wants to help them get it right and understand the principles as well as prepare them for a successful future. School has just gotten started but I feel like we are definitely starting off on the right foot thanks to Dr. Tina.
Dr. Tina replied on 8/30/2012:
Thank you Ms. Taisha for the feedback. It is greatly appreciated! I look forward to continuously providing the highest quality services to you and your family.

"Over and above the call of duty!"
Joyce from Waldorf, MD on 4/19/12
Dr. Brown is an outstanding tutor! She is straight forward and honest. She goes to bat for your student in any setting. She attended a parent/student conference and insisted that the appropriate amount of time was dedicated to my daughter when the facilitators wanted to end the sessions early. I can contact her and ask her to review an assignment out of schedule and she is always willing. She challenges her to think out of the box and allows my daughter to be her own personality. She offers intern opportunity ideas, college selection process, business plan ideas and more. Her knowledge of the educational realm is priceless.
Dr. Tina replied on 4/21/2012:
Ms. C., Thank you for your most recent positive feedback. We work very well as a team while facing and overcoming obstacles, direct and indirect challenges, and rejoicing/celebrating during our successes/ victories along our journey. You are a very supportive mother and team player. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to help you in your daughter's educational quest. It is a joy to work with you both.
Valencia from Accokeek, MD on 4/16/12
What an incredible blessing it's been to meet the acquaintance of Dr. Tina!! She is such an extraordinarily compassionate person!! Upon the initial assessment meeting, I was instantly in awe of her extreme passion for education. Her aura is unbelievably comforting!! She won me over in the matter of moments, and I consider myself very skeptical when it comes to meeting folks.
Well, Dr. Tina is the "real deal!" I sincerely appreciate Dr. Tina's approach in learning how she can be of service to fit the specific need(s) of the student. For starters, Dr. Tina is a great listner. She takes well documented notes of your concerns, inquiries and requests and applies appropriate and pratical responses, theories and exercises.
After winning me over in the matter of minutes, I was extremely excited to hear the feedback from my god-son. Like me, he too is a bit leary of meeting new people, but upon pick up, he was bursting at the seams to tell me all about his first session. At 100 m.p.h., he shared and explained to me that "Dr. Tina is one of the nicest teachers he's ever met and that she really listens and helps him." He went on to say that "she keeps learning fun and interesting."
I discovered that leading up to and after each session with Dr. Tina, my god-son would be eager and anxious about seeing her and sharing the outcome of each session.
Some of the things that instantly come to mind when describing Dr. Tina are:
-very hands on
-positive praise/feedback and encouragement
-firm understanding of how to incorporate age appropriate learning tools
-tremendous love for students/children
-presents a variety of learning styles
-extremely perceptive in identifying deficiencies/challenges
-equipped with a plethora of interactive sites/activities/exercises to incorporate and confirm lessons
-exceptional at capturing and documenting methods used and accomplishments attained during each session
Dr. Tina is an amazingly awesome tutor who exudes ALL of the characterisctics that makes ANY child or person (including me) excited about learning. I find myself just as excited (if not more) to see and hear the progression at the end of EVERY session!!
You can't get any better than this!! Our lives have certainly become more enriched because of her. His level of comfort and confidence has increased remarkably!!! The proof is in the body of his work!
Thanks Dr. Tina!!
Dr. Tina replied on 4/16/2012:
Ms. M., Thank you very much for the beautiful and heart-felt review you provided as feedback for the hard work, accomplishments, and interactions we have made throughout our educational journey with your God-son. You are a wonderful, on-target, and productive team player. Thank you for the opportunity to work with you and your precious student. It has been a wonderful experience to help you and help your God-son accomplish our intended goals and move him closer to being the renowned author and engineer he is going to become!
Angela from Clinton, MD on 4/14/12
Dr. Tina B. is a great Tutor! She helped get my daughter back on track with three major core subjects. My daughter was at risk for repeating the 2nd grade and I just couldn't let that happen. The breakdown of communication with myself and the teacher was mainly at fault. While I assumed everything was going well, especially since she made the honor roll the previous quarter, the teacher wasn't communicating to me that my daughter was struggling. Not only that but I didn't know that parents could have access to grades online. I had no idea that my daughter's grades were dropping until I got a phone call from the teacher.
Once I spoke to Dr. B, from day 1 she gave me the resources I needed and developed a plan to get things back on track. She armed me with a list of concerns to bring to the teacher's attention and a method to keep the lines of communication open. Once the plan was implemented my daughter's grades went up! She had confidence in reading and I along with the teacher was able to work as a team to make sure my daughter followed through with her assignments.
I want to stress that when dealing with a situation like this, you can't rely on others to do all the work this was a collective effort from Dr. B, the teacher, my father, my husband and myself. Dr. B explained that from day 1 as well and she was right. Dr. B was always available and she not only encouraged my daughter but she encouraged me to stay on top of things as well. She is just awesome! Thank you so much Dr. B.!
Dr. Tina replied on 4/16/2012:
Ms. Angela, Thank you for sharing your experiences and feedback. I am very blessed to have learned what a positive impact I have had on you and your daughter. You are a meek, yet strong, person who has followed through on all duties that were needed in order for our educational plan-of-action to be successful. Thank you for being such an active and willing team player who kept her daughter's needs at the forefront. I pray that you and your family will only be blessed and continue to enjoy the highly progressive results produced through hard work and dedication by your daughter! She is a princess and deserves to have her light shine!!! Again, thank you!
Hanan from Brandywine, MD on 3/29/12
I was quite impressed with Dr. Brown's credentials from just looking at her profile. We were even more impressed from our first lesson especially how she got our daughter (5 years old) to interact with her and pay attention to her which is what she struggles with the most. Thank you Dr. Brown for making our first session a joy!
Dr. Tina replied on 4/5/2012:
Thank you for taking time to provide positive feedback! I enjoy helping parents help their children reach their highest potential. Again, thank you.
Teresa from Waldorf, MD on 3/10/12
Tutoring sessions are fine but there is always a miscommunication with her. Ms. B. is never clear on what she wants. She says one thing, then there is something different i.e. time and location. Ms. B. always wanted to charge for sessions not rendered when there is a miscommunication on her part.
Dr. Tina replied on 3/14/2012:
I really enjoy working with parents and their children. Although one may receive significant professionalism, support, kindness, empathy, results-oriented services, considerations, and much more, some people won't appreciate it. There are two things I have learned; they are: (1) absolute words like "always" are usually based on emotions rather than truth, and (2) the rewards of providing educational services are high internally...human services and loving the people. I am sorry, Ms. B., that clear communication was misunderstood by you. If you look at your messages, you will see and verify that you had 3 opportunities/choices to make-up the session. Thank you for the time we were able to make a positive change in your daughter's education and life.
"Excellent tutor. She is Patient, Knowledgeable, and Funny."
Semanthe from Upper Marlboro, MD on 2/22/12
Dr. B has truly been a blessing to my child's overall emotional and academic health. I prayed and asked God to send a tutor that could act as an academic coach for my daughter. Math has always been a struggle and I have spent years looking for a qualified tutor that would support her learning style as well as providing remediation and enrichment where needed. When I found Dr. B on Wyzant I had not idea that my prayers had been answered. From the very first meeting she has been engaged and focused on my daughter's overall success. Initally I reached out to her for Algebra 2 and Chemistry tutoring. Dr. Brown instinctively inquired about the other subjects and immediately created an individualized plan to address my daughter's overall academic achievement. Almost immediately we began to see results. After a few sessions with Dr. B my daughter took an unannounced math quiz and scored a 94%.
When I asked my 16 year old daughter to describe Dr. B she says she is patient, knowledgeable, and funny. My daughter has gained a new sense of confidence towards school and I am excited about her confidence. Truly I thank God for sending you (Dr. B) in our lives. You can not imagine what you have done for my family.
Dr. Tina replied on 2/23/2012:
Thank you for the feedback. It is a great pleasure to work with you and your daughter. Dr. Brown has been working with my 4th grader in Math for about a month and I already see improvement. I am very impressed with Dr. Brown’s ability to explain concepts in a way that my child can understand and retain. After each session she provides thorough notes summarizing the lessons covered. I highly recommend using her services. She is patient, trustworthy and professional.
Dr. Tina replied on 2/3/2012:
Thank you for the positive feedback! I appreciate us as a team and your soft, but affirmative nature. Your son works very hard during our sessions and invites learning. Again, thank you!
Angela from Waldorf, MD on 2/1/12
I stumbled across Dr. Tina during one of her tutoring sessions in desperation in finding a math and science tutor for my daughter, who is a sophomore in high school. This is my daughter’s 5th week and I have been impressed with her expertise, kindness and willingness to teach. My daughter really appreciates Dr. Tina not only showing her the way math problems are taught in her class but tips and tricks for doing the problems so she recognizes and can set up the problems on her own. I also appreciate her quick reviews after we have met summing up the work for the day. It helps me as a parent to monitor the work my daughter is doing even though she is awesome at communicating with me in person.
Dr. Tina replied on 2/1/2012:
Thank you for taking the time to write a review on my behalf. It is, continuously, a pleasure and privilege to work with you and your daughter. I always look forward to providing her with the best instruction, enhancing her knowledge base and skills, and improving her confidence as she accomplishes her academic endeavors! You are a supportive and positive part of this team.

My son actually looks forward to his tutoring session and was adamant about tutoring even on a holiday. He describes Dr. Tina B. as motherly. My son has been working with Dr. B for two weeks and have raised his grade in Conceptual Physics a whole letter grade. She has taken the time to explain things to him so that he understands it. She is very patient and encouraging. He feels more confident in his ability to complete an assignment without reassurance. He just received an "A" on his mid term exam in Physics. Thanks Dr. B for all your support.
Dr. Tina replied on 12/23/2011:
