Sorry about the lame tagline, but I'm kind of a lame dude! :) My name is Justin (Mr. K. to my students) and I've been a math
teacher since 2006. I love working students and seeing their faces when something clicks. Though I don't get paid much, I find my job extremely rewarding. My favorite areas of math to teach range from middle school levels through Algebra
; however, I'm very comfortable helping with ANY mathematical topic. I'm also very comfortable with computer
software questions. I've worked with students of all ages [K-12 and college] thanks to my employment a local community college, a nation-wide tutoring company, and countless one-on-one tutoring opportunities.
Aside from being a math teacher, I'm a husband (married 7/7/7), a father (daughter born 1/1/11), and a geek. I love technology, Star Wars, sports (baseball
is my favorite, following by bowling, football
, hockey, and basketball
). I grew up just a short drive from Chicago so I'm a die-hard Cubs fan.
When I have free time, I'm usually in front of a computer/tablet, behind a good book, playing games with family, or just relaxing. However, I constantly try to stay busy. I tutor numerous students throughout the school year and summer.
One thing that sets me apart from a lot of students is my willingness to do online tutoring using Google Hangouts, Skype, or other virtual meeting software. I'd be happy to talk with you about my online tutoring/teaching experiences.
Thanks for your time and consideration!

WyzAnt wants to know... If you were to write a "Summer Slump Survival Guide" containing 5 tips for students, what would it say?
1.) Read for at least 10 minutes a day... it doesn't matter what it is as long as you enjoy it!
2.) Find an online game that can practice your school skills... that way when school starts you'll impress your teacher and classmates
I worked with my first student from WyzAnt! I love it! It's so exciting to meet new people and to get to know them. The first day is critical because, as a teacher, I need to make a good impression with both the student and their family. Now that we're starting,
the ball will roll nicely!
