I love teaching and sharing the excitement I have for my favorite subject – math! I spent 16 years as a full-time math teacher. My teaching lines included courses in pre-algebra to pre-calculus. I also was an SAT prep class instructor at a private learning center.
I believe that every student is truly special - from the talents and skills they possess to the way in which they learn. As a private tutor, I take care to deliver personalized instruction that addresses the unique needs of the individual student. I also strive to develop in them a love for learning and an understanding that great things can be achieved through hard work and a positive attitude. I’m thankful for each student and happy to help them achieve their goals in an area of study that is as fascinating as it is useful.
With all my years of teaching and youth ministry, I know the importance of maintaining quality relationships with my students and being a positive force in their lives. I provide strong support for their learning in a patient and encouraging manner. I give my students the time they need to think and respond. I’m flexible with my teaching methods and can adapt to different personality-types and learning styles. I explain complex concepts in a simple and clear manner and design practice problems to check for understanding and mastery.
My primary purpose is to serve my students well and help them reach their goals. I do have high standards for myself. So if a client is not satisfied with my service, no fee is charged for the lesson.
I'll do my best to respond to requests for tutoring within three hours. I’m available to tutor remotely on weekends and on most weekdays before 3 p.m. The hourly rate may be adjusted for time and cost of travel. After 3 p.m. on the weekdays, I tutor from my home in Liliha. A 24-hour notice of cancellation is required.
Please feel free to email me if you have any questions. Aloha & Mahalo!
